This role is for one of Weekday’s clients Min Experience: 6 years Location: Bangalore JobType: full-time Requirements We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Embedded Developer – IoT to join our core engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in firmware development, embedded systems, and IoT communication protocols, along with a deep understanding of wireless connectivity, device security, and cloud integration. In this role, you will architect, design, and optimize embedded solutions that power connected devices for diverse IoT applications. You will play a key role in building secure, scalable, and energy-efficient systems that integrate seamlessly with AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub, and other cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities - Firmware Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality firmware for IoT devices using Embedded C/C++. Implement robust and efficient code optimized for performance and low power consumption. - IoT Connectivity: Develop and integrate communication stacks such as Wi-Fi, LoRa, and NB-IoT for real-time data transmission and device communication. Ensure reliable connectivity and minimal latency across diverse network environments. - Security & Encryption: Implement strong data encryption, authentication, and secure boot mechanisms to protect devices from cyber threats. Ensure compliance with industry standards for IoT security and data integrity. - Cloud Integration: Design and implement seamless integration between embedded devices and cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub) using MQTT, HTTP, or REST APIs. Manage secure data exchange and device provisioning workflows. - Optimization & Performance: Continuously improve firmware efficiency, reduce memory footprint, and optimize device power usage for extended battery life. Perform detailed profiling and debugging using hardware and software tools. - Hardware Interaction: Collaborate with hardware engineers to design and validate circuit interfaces, sensors, and peripherals. Debug and validate hardware-firmware interactions to ensure stable and reliable operation. - Testing & Validation: Develop test plans, automated testing frameworks, and diagnostic utilities for firmware validation. Conduct regression, stress, and field testing to ensure product quality. - Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, software, and cloud teams to translate product requirements into technical specifications. Provide technical leadership in design reviews and architecture discussions. - Documentation & Compliance: Prepare detailed design documents, firmware release notes, and compliance reports. Adhere to best practices in version control, CI/CD, and documentation standards. Required Skills & Experience - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or related discipline). - Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development for IoT products. - Strong proficiency in Embedded C/C++, RTOS environments, and microcontroller-based systems (ARM, ESP32, STM32, etc.). - Practical experience with IoT communication technologies such as Wi-Fi, LoRa, NB-IoT, and MQTT. - In-depth understanding of security frameworks, data encryption, and device authentication mechanisms. - Experience integrating devices with AWS IoT Core or Azure IoT Hub, including OTA updates and telemetry management. - Familiarity with IoT protocols (MQTT, CoAP, REST, JSON) and low-power device design. - Proficiency with debugging tools, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware testing environments. - Knowledge of cloud-based analytics, data pipelines, and device management frameworks is a plus. - Strong problem-solving, analytical, and optimization skills with attention to detail. - Excellent communication and teamwork skills with a passion for building scalable and secure IoT products.
