This role is for one of the Weekday's clients Salary range: Rs 3000000 - Rs 5000000 (ie INR 30-50 LPA) Min Experience: 5 years Location: Hyderabad JobType: full-time We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Backend Engineer to lead the design and development of robust, scalable backend systems. You will work closely with leadership to build API endpoints, asynchronous workflows, and reliable pipelines that process data from diverse, often unstable external sources, including government databases. This role combines hands-on engineering, system design, and technical leadership to ensure high-quality service delivery. Requirements Key Responsibilities - Collaborate with leadership on technical strategy, backend architecture, and product vision. - Design, build, and maintain API endpoints using Python and FastAPI. - Develop systems that ingest and process data from slow, inconsistent, or large-scale external sources. - Build asynchronous pipelines that analyze outputs, trigger further automated processes, and scale with demand. - Define and implement the business logic for new products, including data flows, worker tasks, and notifications. - Structure and manage unary and streamed responses for high-performance backend operations. - Work closely with frontend teams to ensure smooth integration and timely delivery of features. - Engage with customers to understand real-world use cases and translate them into backend solutions. - Provide staff-level technical leadership, guiding design decisions, mentoring engineers, and setting architecture standards. - Oversee Kubernetes deployments, system scalability, and reliability. What We’re Looking For - Deep expertise in Python, FastAPI, and Kubernetes, with proven experience in production-grade systems. - Strong experience designing asynchronous architectures and distributed worker pipelines. - Skilled in handling unreliable, large-scale external data sources and optimizing ingestion processes. - Exceptional architectural thinking, capable of mapping complex data flows and backend interactions. - Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and customer engagement. - Ability to make strategic technical decisions and mentor team members through complex engineering challenges. - Product-focused mindset, building solutions that deliver real-world value.
