ServiceNow Test Automation Engineer / QA Engineer (ServiceNow Modules) Experience: 3–8 Years Location: Hyderabad Employment Type: Full-Time About the Role We are seeking a ServiceNow Test Automation Engineer / QA Engineer with solid experience across ServiceNow modules, ServiceNow testing tools, and modern QA methodologies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and executing automated and manual test suites to ensure the quality, stability, and reliability of ServiceNow applications across ITSM, HRSD, CSM, SecOps, GRC, IRM, and custom applications. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical testing capabilities, experience with ServiceNow automation frameworks (ATF or third-party tools), and the ability to work in Agile delivery teams. Key Responsibilities 1. ServiceNow Functional & System Testing - Perform functional, regression, system, integration, and UAT testing for various ServiceNow modules including: - ITSM (Incident, Change, Problem, Catalog, CMDB) - HRSD - CSM - ITAM / ITOM - GRC / SecOps / IRM - Custom ServiceNow applications - Validate workflows, UI policies, business rules, catalogs, roles & ACLs, integrations, and platform configurations. - Understand user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and translate them into test scenarios and test cases. 2. ServiceNow Test Automation - Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using: - ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) - OR third-party frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, Provar, or Tricentis (depending on environment). - Build reusable and scalable automation frameworks for UI, API, and end-to-end testing within the ServiceNow ecosystem. - Ensure automation is aligned with platform architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and upgrade-safe development. 3. QA Strategy, Planning & Execution - Design and document test strategies, plans, test cases, and test scripts. - Execute manual and automated tests, document results, and log defects in line with defined QA processes. - Work with developers & ServiceNow admins to validate defect fixes and regression test impacted areas. - Conduct impact analysis for new releases, upgrades, and enhancements. 4. ServiceNow Release Upgrades & Patch Testing - Assist in testing ServiceNow upgrades (Rome → San Diego → Tokyo → Vancouver, etc.) including ATF execution and defect remediation. - Validate update sets, integrations, business rules, UI policies, and custom widgets during upgrade cycles. 5. CI/CD & Test Execution Pipelines - Integrate automated test scripts into CI/CD pipelines using: - Jenkins - GitHub Actions - Azure DevOps - GitLab CI - Schedule automated runs, monitor stability, and maintain healthy test execution pipelines. 6. Defect Management & Quality Reporting - Document defects with steps, logs, screenshots, and expected results. - Participate in defect triage and collaborate with developers, architects, and product owners. - Track and report testing progress, coverage, and quality metrics. 7. Collaboration & Documentation - Work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Admins, QA, and Product Owners. - Participate in Agile ceremonies: grooming, planning, standups, demos, and retrospectives. - Create and maintain QA documentation including test scripts, automation guides, and release notes. Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills - Strong experience testing ServiceNow modules (ITSM required; HRSD/CSM/SecOps/GRC/IRM preferred). - Hands-on experience with ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF) or third-party automation tools integrated with ServiceNow. - Good understanding of ServiceNow configuration elements: - Business Rules - UI Policies / Client Scripts - Workflows / Flow Designer - Catalog Items & Record Producers - ACL and Role-based access - Integrations (REST/SOAP) - Ability to automate UI and API tests using: - JavaScript / TypeScript - Playwright / Selenium / Cypress (as applicable) - REST API testing tools (Postman, Newman) QA Methodologies - Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, Agile/Scrum testing processes. - Experience designing test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, and acceptance criteria. - Hands-on with: - Functional testing - System & Regression testing - API testing - Integration testing - End-to-end workflow validation - Test management tools experience: - JIRA, Zephyr, Xray, Azure DevOps, TestRail, ALM, etc. Soft Skills - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. - Strong verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to work with global teams across time zones. - Quality-first mindset and attention to detail. Preferred / Good to Have Skills - Experience with Playwright for test automation. - Exposure to ServiceNow development/scripting (bonus). - Experience with ATF test suite optimization and data-driven automation. - Knowledge of CMDB, Discovery, or Service Mapping testing. - ISTQB or similar QA certification. - Understanding of DevOps pipelines and automated deployment processes.
