About Us Marriott International Inc headquartered in Bethesda Maryland USA was founded in May 1927 by J Willard Marriott and Alice S Marriott with a modest nine-seat A W root beer stand Guided by the family s leadership and core principles Marriott International today has grown into a global hospitality giant operating approximately 9 000 properties and over 30 leading brands in more than 140 countries and territories From such humble beginnings to becoming the worlds largest hotel company Marriott International has never stopped searching for inventive ways to serve its customers provide opportunities for its associates and grow their business At Marriott Tech Accelerator center MTA Hyderabad India Marriott is exploring the world we live in and all its possibilities At Marriott Tech Accelerator we are a team of passionate engineering minds dedicated to creating and building cutting-edge solutions that streamline operations and elevate guest experiences Marriotts core values At Marriott our make us who we are We believe that success is never final As we change and grow the beliefs that are most important to us stay the sameputting people first pursuing excellence embracing change acting with integrity and serving our world Being part of Marriott Tech Accelerator means being part of a proud history and a thriving culture Position Summary Provides application development leadership for the implementation of key technology initiatives that drive Marriott International s Platform strategy in a fast-paced mission critical environment This role will be responsible for building and advancing Marriotts platform in alignment with our core business objectives and enterprise architecture principles Fosters innovation and manages the application development team with a focus on promoting customer satisfaction Collaborates with other technology leaders business partners and promotes agile application development practices and processes across the enterprise Establishes and manages continuous improvement efforts in technical project management software engineering testing automation to improve quality scalability and adoption of Marriotts API platform Role Title Associate Engineering Director Platform Engineering Job Responsibilities Application Development Management Ensure consistency across SDLC tools processes for both agile and waterfall Oversee compliance deployment standards and adherence to estimating and reporting frameworks Monitor projects and escalate service issues while driving service-level improvements Facilitate continuous alignment with corporate standards and policies Project Relationship Management Lead application development projects in collaboration with IT business partners and vendors Drive project reviews status reporting and stakeholder communication Ensure service providers meet expectations and contract terms Contribute to portfolio planning and budget input Continuous Improvement Governance Promote adoption of CMMi or similar frameworks for consistent quality improvements Leverage metrics and feedback to enhance service delivery Support IT governance practices and compliance with IT strategy Required Skills Experience 10 years in application development leadership including 7 years in architecture backend integration and modern tech stacks Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture microservices event-driven systems and distributed systems Strong knowledge of Java 19 Spring Boot WebFlux Kafka Kubernetes Docker AWS Fargate Serverless and DAPR Proficient in DevOps GitOps CI CD observability OpenTelemetry service mesh Istio and API ecosystems Experience in Agile SAFe preferred SDLC and ITIL Skilled in platform design API strategy database networking and full stack infrastructure Strong stakeholder and vendor management experience in matrixed or outsourced environments Preferred Qualifications AWS Solutions Architecture GraphQL Node js Python WebAssembly WASM Experience with API platforms Apigee Akana Mulesoft OSS contributions Background in product-based delivery models and omni-channel integration Proven ability to translate complex tech into business-friendly solutions Effective communicator with strong problem-solving and prioritization skills Education Certifications Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience Work location Hyderabad India Work mode Hybrid
