Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Incharge - Ward to lead and manage all aspects of our hospital ward. The ideal candidate will be a strong clinical leader with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of nursing care, ensuring efficient ward operations, and fostering a positive and professional environment for both staff and patients. This role requires exceptional organizational, communication, and decision-making skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Ward Operations: Responsible for the efficient functioning of the ward, including daily routines, equipment, and patient management. This includes planning resource deployment based on occupancy and ensuring professional handover and takeover of shifts.
- Clinical Care: Ensure strict adherence to Nursing Clinical standards and protocols. This involves preparing and implementing nursing care plans, assisting clinicians, and ensuring all investigations and treatments are carried out as advised by doctors. You will also be responsible for medication safety and adhering to patient safety protocols.
- Emergency Management: Handle emergencies competently and calmly, providing timely guidance and making crucial decisions. You will also anticipate potential emergencies and ensure the team is prepared.
- Team Leadership: Lead and inspire the nursing team. This includes assigning duties based on a mix of skill and experience, ensuring staff competency, conducting training and appraisals, and fostering strong interpersonal relationships within the team and with other departments.
- Patient & Family Relations: Ensure a smooth patient experience from admission to discharge, including room orientation and a focus on outstanding service delivery. You will also counsel patients on preventative care and ensure patient rights and confidentiality are upheld.
- Quality & Compliance: Be responsible for the implementation of infection control practices, as well as NABH and Nursing Excellence standards. You will also track and report on Nursing Quality Indicators.
- Coordination: Work closely with other departments, including Admissions, LDR, OT, NICU, Pharmacy, Lab, and the Billing team to ensure seamless patient care and operations.
- Resource Management: Manage inventory and costs to prevent wastage of drugs and consumables. Ensure all equipment is serviceable and that the team is competent in its use.
Educational Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution.
- A valid State Registration Nursing Council Certificate is required.
Required Skills
- Clinical & Functional Expertise: Strong clinical skills with a deep understanding of nursing standards and the ability to plan and execute work efficiently. Knowledge of NABH and Nursing Excellence standards is essential.
- Supervisory & Team Management: Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage, train, and inspire a diverse team. Experience in conducting appraisals and fostering a positive work environment is a must.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with staff, doctors, patients, and other departments.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Documentation: Meticulous in maintaining records, reports, and registers, with the ability to capture and report data accurately.
- Attitude: Calm and patient demeanor, particularly during emergencies, with a strong ability to reassure and instill confidence in patients.
