Job Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES(100%)

Scientific Collaboration & Data Solutions(40%)

- Collaborate with scientists to identify data gaps and implement effective solutions for data capture, storage, searching, integration, and visualization, ensuring alignment with FAIR data principles.
- Partner with ZTD and VMRD technology groups to align on available tools, platforms, and tech stacks, and provide recommendations for best practices.

Application & Database Development(40%)

- Rapidly design and develop software applications and/or databases to address data needs, supporting scientists by integrating data into existing or new data pipelines for advanced analytics and visualization.
- Ensure the development of high-quality, reliable, and scalable applications, meeting tight deadlines and delivering impactful results.
- Perform testing and debugging to ensure optimal performance, functionality, and the quality of applications.

Code Quality, Research, & Support(10%)

- Participate in code/platform reviews with colleagues to maintain code quality and integrate best practices.
- Continuously research and stay updated on the latest technologies and industry trends to enhance application development processes.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for existing applications, ensuring smooth operation.
- Collaborate with the team to create and maintain project documentation and ensure clear communication of progress and challenges.

Innovation and Expertise Development(10%)

- Stay abreast of the latest trends in application development, visualization technologies, and methods relevant to pharmaceutical research.
- Research and apply advanced techniques related to the deployment of technologies such as AI, LLM, ML, and others.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

- Animal Health Research & Development: Collaborate across the full spectrum of R&D functions (pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, vaccine, device, and genetics R&D) to align technology solutions with diverse scientific disciplines and development pipelines.
- Zoetis Tech & Digital (ZTD): Partner with ZTD teams, particularly with the VMRD-ZTD Engineering group, documentation specialists, and portfolio management groups to ensure seamless integration of IT solutions aligned with organizational goals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a Computer-related field.
- Proven experience as a Rapid Application Developer/Engineer or in a similar role within the Life Sciences industry.
- Experience with rapid application development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
- Experience developing solutions in areas of CMC, including cell-line development, upstream, and downstream, is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think critically and creatively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, sometimes requiring frequent project transitions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and resolve conflicts effectively with individuals across the drug research and development function.
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, or within a team, while managing multiple projects simultaneously.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

- Programming: Proficiency in Python, R, Java, or C#, with experience using code-sharing tools such as Git or GitHub.
- Familiarity with front-end languages such as React, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Data Handling: Strong experience with SQL, Pandas, NumPy, and ETL processes.
- Experience with database design and management (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, Oracle).
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (e.g., Azure or AWS).
- Knowledge of software development best practices, including version control and continuous integration.
- Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Spotfire, or Power BI.

Soft Skills

- Strong storytelling ability to convey scientific insights visually.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with interdisciplinary teams.
