Consultant Histopathologist

Job Description

- Histopathological Examination:
- Examine tissue samples obtained through biopsy, surgery, or autopsy to diagnose diseases, including cancers, infections, inflammatory conditions, and other pathological entities.
- Prepare and review histological slides using various staining techniques (e.g., H&E, immunohistochemistry, special stains).
- Identify and classify abnormal tissue changes at the microscopic level.
- Accurately interpret histopathology findings and provide detailed written reports on diagnoses.
- Diagnosis and Reporting:
- Provide comprehensive, accurate, and timely histopathological diagnoses, including staging of tumors, identification of pathogens, and classification of inflammatory conditions.
- Communicate complex pathological findings to medical teams, guiding clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, and other medical professionals to provide consultative services and discuss findings.
- Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Ensure that all histopathological procedures comply with laboratory standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in proficiency testing, internal audits, and peer review processes to maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy.
- Stay updated on best practices, new techniques, and advancements in the field of histopathology.
- Training and Supervision:
- Provide guidance and training to junior pathologists, laboratory technicians, and other healthcare professionals in the interpretation of histopathology results.
- Support continuous education and professional development within the pathology department.
