Job description Some careers open more doors than others If you re looking for a career that will unlock new opportunities join HSBC and experience the possibilities Whether you want a career that could take you to the top or simply take you in an exciting new direction HSBC offers opportunities support and rewards that will take you further Job Introduction The Compliance function is a Second line of defence LOD function responsible for reviewing and challenging the activities of the Group s businesses also referred to as the First LOD to ensure that they effectively manage as Risk Owners the Regulatory and Financial Crime Compliance risks inherent in or arising from the conduct of their activities and for which they are responsible The Second LOD consists of Risk Stewards who are independent of the commercial risk-taking activities undertaken by the First LOD The Compliance function is a Risk Steward for a number of non-financial risks in accordance with HSBC Group s risk framework VP Risk Steward Oversight will support Compliance leadership team in ensuring that HSBC s operations in the country are effective in identifying managing and mitigating Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime risks The responsibilities of the role holder are To support India Compliance leadership team in driving strategic initiatives across the function and maintain governance oversight To assist India Compliance leadership team to support Compliance function to execute its obligation to be the focal point for all activity in the Group relating to Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime risks To support India Compliance leadership team to deliver an effective reporting and oversight capability at country level which enables the functions to deliver oversight to relevant governance committees Collaborate constructively with other sub-functions to ensure that the required services are delivered as agreed and to be the focal point for engagement with other sub functions In collaboration with other teams within Compliance support India Compliance leadership team to develop and maintain the risk steward view of the effectiveness of the financial crime risk framework and ensure that this view is communicated consistently to relevant risk governance meetings To support India Compliance leadership team to own and maintain the Compliance risk taxonomy used within the operational risk framework and maintain constructive relationships with Risk To support India Compliance leadership team with Oversight and management of risk appetite reporting and provision of comprehensive analysis and insightful commentary to senior management and through governance up to and including country and business line Risk Management Meetings and Boards To support India Compliance leadership team with Development implementation and ongoing management of the risk appetite framework including methodologies processes and policies Providing support and guidance to business lines on risk appetite matters Requirements Seasoned Professional with experience in Global Business functions Compliance roles Governance or Oversight of function in Compliance or similar roles within GB GFs Extensive knowledge of Compliance Risk and application to relevant lines of business and functions Experience in the financial services industry preferably within a large financial institution Track record of delivery of significant change agenda Proven ability to manage multiple issues and priorities and demonstrated judgment and poise in challenging circumstances Lateral thinker with an ability to interpret and solve complex issues Good communication written and spoken and inter-personal skills with experience of dealing with executives at all levels Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good data analytics and interpretation skills Proactive self-starter with proven ability to meet challenging deadlines Innovative mindset and ability to suggest practical cost effective solutions to complex functional issues Strong interpersonal skills and experience of working effectively within a large team collaborating for success A qualification or professional background in a relevant risk or audit discipline You ll achieve more at HSBC HSBC is committed to building a culture where all employees are valued respected and opinions count We take pride in providing a workplace that fosters continuous professional development flexible working and opportunities to grow within an inclusive and diverse environment Personal data held by the Bank relating to employment applications will be used in accordance with our Privacy Statement which is available on our website Issued by The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited India
