customers and team members across the globe These solutions will enhance productivity minimize expenses and update our technology infrastructure to continue providing the outstanding experiences our customers expect Under limited guidance work at the business unit level developing the end-to-end solution architecture for significant initiatives in partnership with key business and IT stakeholders Job Summary This position works closely with business and technical stakeholders at the business unit level to translate FedEx business strategy and initiatives into actionable end-to-end solutions The Solution Architect will work with Stakeholders and Architects to identify and define business unit level capabilities build out a long-term roadmap and create SAFe artifacts for the consumption of the teams to execute the initiatives with a business value driven approach This will require understanding of the impact and influence of broader industry and technology trends on the strategic business vision to recommend action plans across business unit The Solution Architect will combine business strategy with technical and application portfolio knowledge to deconstruct complex concepts into smaller simplified components and capabilities The Solution Architect will provide mentoring for the development of those in less senior positions Job Requirements Lead the long-range planning for the business application data and technical architecture for the solutions in a specific domain Exposes current state architecture and identifies options for future state architecture Works closely with business and IT stakeholders creating solutions that balance competing interests and concerns Develops plans for and facilitates the migration from current to selected future state by providing technical leadership to multiple initiatives Participate and engage with the PRT decomposition analysis to understand the Epic request Participate and engage with the Solution Product Management team to ensure feasibility of the capabilities and features created during the Solution Delivery Assessment phase Lead create the Solution Context Solution Intent artifacts as part of the Solution Delivery Decomposition and Analysis phases Provide conceptual and detailed design of data structures for data at rest databases and data in motion API interfaces messages Develop architecture solutions that meet performance scalability reliability and security needs Responsible for decisions priorities regarding the overall domain architecture Conduct ad-hoc data analysis to identify insights and recommend key performance indicators KPIs for effective tracking of application performance metrics Execute ad-hoc data mapping activities to ensure seamless integration and alignment of data structures in the absence of the US peer solution architect Be able to communicate with Business and IT leadership stakeholders daily using various channels such as emails chats and presentations Provide technical guidance to the development team Mentor those in less senior positions Skills Required Experience with large-scale enterprise applications design and architecture Experience or familiarity with cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure with potential for future cloud application work Experience across various architectures including Microservices and Event-Driven Architectures Domain Driven Design Experience in an IT role requiring effective communication with senior leadership and all relevant functions Experience delivering architecture solutions in an agile environment and constantly evolving the architecture with changing business needs Expertise in Java and Spring Boot for software development with knowledge of network latency and messaging systems Familiarity with database systems such as Cassandra Oracle PostgreSQL as well as GLS geographically located systems Knowledge of modern architecture practices patterns technologies and models Knowledge of technology solutions and ability to learn understand and work quickly with emerging technologies methodologies and solutions in the cloud IT technology space Knowledge of Shipment Domain or Shipment business and or equivalent formal training or work experience 12-14 years of work experience in an information technology or engineering environment A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirement The Solution Architect will facilitate the translation of FedEx business strategy and initiatives into actionable end-to-end solutions working closely with business and technical stakeholders at the business unit level
