About The Role

We are seeking a talented and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our Supply and Marketplace division at Expedia Group. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing scalable, high-performance machine learning solutions that enhance our partner and customer experiences. You will work within a dynamic, cross-functional team of data scientists, data engineers, and product managers to design and implement data-driven algorithms and pipelines. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to optimize inventory sourcing, pricing strategies, and partner engagement, ultimately maximizing the value delivered to our users. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation, a strong technical background, and a collaborative mindset to thrive in our fast-paced Agile environment.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should possess a degree in software engineering, computer science, informatics, or a related field. Candidates should have a minimum of 5+ years of experience with a Bachelor&aposs degree or 3+ years with a Master&aposs degree. Proficiency in Python is essential, with additional expertise in Scala being advantageous. You should have hands-on experience with object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD), design patterns, SQL, and NoSQL databases. A strong understanding of big data technologies such as Spark, Hive, Hue, and Databricks is required. Familiarity with developing and deploying batch and real-time inference applications, as well as a solid grasp of machine learning pipelines and lifecycle, is crucial. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, and an enthusiasm for continuous learning in areas like microservices, system architecture, and data science are highly valued. Candidates should also be experienced in working within Agile/Scrum methodologies.

Responsibilities

- Collaborate with a geographically distributed team of Machine Learning engineers and Data Scientists to design and develop large-scale batch and real-time data pipelines on cloud platforms.
- Prototype innovative solutions rapidly by creating minimum viable products (MVPs) and contribute to shaping the technical vision of the team through collaboration with senior engineers and peers.
- Serve as a mentor and point of contact for junior team members, providing guidance and technical advice to foster growth and development.
- Participate actively in all phases of the machine learning model lifecycle, including feature engineering, model training, validation, and deployment for enterprise applications addressing complex business challenges.
- Work closely with global teams of data scientists, data analysts, data engineers, and architects to ensure the successful integration and operation of production systems and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate generative AI solutions into existing workflows, enhancing automation and decision-making processes.
- Conduct code reviews to maintain high standards of code quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design artifacts, partner-facing documents, and operational procedures.
- Monitor, support, and continuously improve deployed solutions, focusing on reliability, scalability, and service excellence.
