LAB Technician-Test Bench

Job Summary:

We are hiring a LAB Technician with hands-on experience in PCB assembly and wiring harnesses. The ideal candidate will be proficient in soldering, capable of reading and interpreting technical drawings and wiring diagrams and committed to quality and safety standards.

Duties/Roles and Responsibilities:

Assemble and solder electronic components on PCBs (both Through-Hole and SMD)

As per IPC- 610 Standard.

Perform tasks related to wiring harness assembly, including cutting, stripping, crimping, splicing,soldering and terminating, routing specialized wires/cables /connectors as per IPC620 Standard using specialized hand tools.

Assemble / Integrate mechanical chassis, rack mounted equipments, troubleshoot and repairs.

Validate (testing, inspecting) and ensure strong, reliable joints that meets quality and safety standards.

Repairs circuit cards including but not limited to: surface mount, through hole component fabrication, applying and removing conformal coats, circuit card troubleshooting, modifications and repairs.

Read and interpret wiring diagrams and electrical schematics to ensure accurate assembly.

Maintain a safe, clean, organized and efficient workstation environment by keeping shelves, workstations tools etc neat, complying with procedures, rules, and regulations while achieving daily productivity goals.

Troubleshoot and test assemblies

Incoming Goods Inspection (IGA):

Inspect incoming goods (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics etc), including test jigs, fixtures, and automated test equipment (ATEs), to ensure compliance with quality standards and plans storage.

Laboratory Equipment Maintenance:

Maintain and calibrate electronic laboratory equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability. Maintains Lab operations documentation like Process Control Records and Work Instructions. Performs lab compliance tasks such as tool control, FOD (foreign object debris) and ESD.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

Perform testing, fault-finding, and troubleshooting at the component level for various electromechanical components/ devices and systems.

Inventory Management:

Manage the stock inventory of electromechanical parts, ensuring availability for projects and minimizing downtime.

Interface with customers to understand wiring requirements,

Interfaces with suppliers and internal stakeholders for material procurement and to build hardware.

Document test results and prepare detailed reports.

Responsible to release-controlled documents

Creation and maintenance of Test System Bill Of Material

Analysing and validating material/component /parts selection w.r.t tolerances, performance and manufacturability.

Electrical/ Electronic Schematics preparation using AUTOCAD/ORCAD etc.

Responsible to improve 5S & Kaizen initiatives

Travel to client place for installation/ commissioning support

You will be responsible for the delivery of the items assigned to you with quality and should interact with cross functional team and resolve the problem.

Skills Required:

Hands on knowledge of Cable/Wire Preparation, Measuring Cable Assemblies and Wires, Testing Cable Assemblies, Crimp Terminations, Insulation Displacement Connections, Soldered Terminations, Connectorization, Molding/Potting, Splicing, Marking and Labeling, Wire Bundle Securing Shielding, Cable/Wire Harness Protective Coverings, Coaxial and Twinaxial Cable Assemblies.

Electrical Cable harness skills (IPC -620), PCBA soldering skills (IPC-610) and Acceptance Criteria.

Knowledge on Electromechanical product assembly.

Proficient in using hand tools for cutting, stripping, soldering, and crimping wires.

Strong commitment to precision, quality control, and safety protocols.

PCBA testing and system debugging

Knowledge of T&M instruments (Usage of testing equipment like DMM, Power Supply, DSO and other testing tools.etc)

Proficiency in reading, understanding and interpreting engineering drawings/ Schematics /wirings/diagrams, Procedures / Work Instructions, Manufacturing Processes.

Awareness of ISO quality management system

IPC- 610 AND IPC-620 Certified

Behaviours and attitudes

Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English and have high degree of proficiency with MS Office tools such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint etc.

Qualification:

Full time B.E. / Diploma in Electronics and Communications

Experience:

1-3 years of industrial experience in an electronics laboratory, PCB soldering and wiring / Cable Harness assembly/ Field

Location:Bengaluru. Work across multiple locations Udupi, Bangalore & Hyderabad tosupport lab operations and testing requirements

Relocation: This position does offer relocation within INDIA.
