Garment technician

Role: Product Development Technician – Mumbai

You'll help turn clothing ideas into real, well-fitting, high-quality garments — from the very first design sketch all the way until the product is ready to sell in stores and online.

What you'll do:

- Work with designers and managers to turn their creative ideas into samples that can actually be produced.
- Prepare detailed product documents (called tech packs or spec sheets) that explain everything about the garment — size measurements, stitching details, fabrics, buttons, zippers, etc.
- Create grade charts, which show how measurements change for different sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL).
- Check sample clothes to see if they fit well, look right, and are made the way they should be — and suggest fixes if needed.
- Coordinate with pattern makers (who create garment shapes), sample makers, and factories so the design is correctly followed.
- Inspect products before mass production to make sure they meet the company's quality standards.
- Visit factories to check samples, production processes, and quality.
- Keep track of every stage of development so deadlines are met.
- Ensure clothes meet safety and legal standards where needed.

What you need:

- Fashion or garment-related diploma/degree.
- 2–5 years' experience in clothing product development or technical design.
- Knowledge of how clothes are made, how sizing works, and how to check fit.
- Good at making and understanding technical garment documents.
- Familiarity with quality checks.
- Can travel to factories when required.
- Strong organisation and communication skills.
- Comfortable using Adobe Illustrator, Excel, and product management software.
