Role Summary
We are seeking to recruit an ambitious and dynamic Senior CAD Technician to join the UK iCRC Communities team to work alongside our UK discipline.
The successful candidate will be working in a team environment to develop and deliver projects through various stages of design from feasibility to planning/detailed design and onto construction.
Responsibilities
- You will be working and supporting on a range of infrastructure schemes to independently develop engineering drawings in accordance with the relevant standards.
- You will be expected to play a proactive part in the design process and to be active on several projects at any given time.
- You will be contributing to all types of projects.
- You will be using AutoCAD, MicroStation and other design software for the production and development of drawings.
- You will read and adhere to all relevant policies and procedures for Health and Safety including the H&S Policy, H&S Manual, and procedures
- You will take responsibility for own personal development with the support of line manager and follow an agreed development plan
- You will assist in the development of others in the team
Key Competencies / Skills
Mandatory Skills
- Ability to utilise AutoCAD or MicroStation in adherence to defined CAD standards to develop layouts, labelling, dimensioning, sheet layout, design details and other appropriate design concepts.
- Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models to assist with investigations of engineering problems.
- Proven ability to work up drawings (plans, sections & details) from Engineers basic sketches to full working drawings
- Ability to liaise with the design teams as necessary to coordinate design and drawing production.
- Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required.
- Assists with establishing, maintaining and enforcing the use of proper CAD standards and procedures.
- Undertake reviews of work produced by others to ensure high quality of CAD output.
- UK project experience and working knowledge of UK design standards
- You should be able to demonstrate some experience and working knowledge of relevant technical design guidance and standards, such as DMRB, MfS, TSRGD, HCD, and IAN 184.
- You should be able to understand and communicate BIM and CAD standards for use on Civil engineering projects and possessing an appropriate overall level of knowledge of the UK infrastructure design sector.
- Proficient in use of standard office software
- Experience of supervising and coordinating the CAD output of others within a multi- disciplinary project environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of basic design using Civil 3D
- Awareness - Revit
Qualifications
- You will have a ITI or Diploma in Engineering level qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent with 4 to 7 years+ relevant post-graduate experience
- Autodesk AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation user certification
- Working towards a recognised professional qualification with a recognised institution, such as EngTech
