Job Description

Power supply design architect/ DC-DC convertor architect for Defense, Railways

2) Roles:

1. Technical Lead in Power Supply Design:

o Lead the development of power supply solutions, including DC-DC converters, for various

applications (e.g., automotive, aerospace, industrial, consumer electronics, etc.).

o Act as a subject matter expert for power supply systems and architecture.

2. System Architecture Development:

o Define the overall system power architecture and ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and

reliability.

o Provide strategic direction for the integration of power supply designs into the system.

3. Research & Development:

o Innovate new topologies, technologies, and control methods to improve power efficiency, density,

and thermal performance.

o Keep up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in power electronics.

4. Collaboration:

o Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, firmware, PCB layout, thermal, and

mechanical teams.

o Engage with vendors for component selection and customization.

5. Compliance & Standards:

o Ensure designs comply with industry standards such as EMI/EMC regulations, safety, and efficiency

certifications (e.g., IEC, ISO, Energy Star, etc.).

o Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations for power-related issues.

3) Responsibilities:

1. Power Supply Design:

o Design and simulate high-efficiency power supplies, including DC-DC converters (buck, boost,

flyback, forward, SEPIC, etc.).

o Specify and validate the selection of components such as MOSFETs, diodes, transformers,

inductors, and capacitors.

2. Performance Optimization:

o Optimize power conversion efficiency, power density, transient response, thermal performance, and

overall system reliability.

o Address challenges such as noise, ripple, EMI/EMC, and thermal dissipation.

3. Prototyping & Validation:

o Develop prototypes and conduct lab testing to validate performance against specifications.

o Use tools like oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and power analyzers for design validation.

4. Control Systems:

o Design and implement control algorithms (e.g., voltage-mode, current-mode, digital control).

o Tune loop stability parameters and ensure robust performance across various operating conditions.

5. Documentation:

o Create detailed design documentation, including schematics, layout guidelines, test procedures, and

design reports.

o Maintain design databases and ensure traceability.

6. Troubleshooting & Support:

o Provide technical support during product integration and production.

o Address design issues, resolve bugs, and implement design improvements as necessary.

7. Leadership & Mentorship:

o Mentor junior engineers and guide them through the design process.

o Conduct design reviews and provide technical feedback.

8. Project Management:

o Manage power design projects, from requirements gathering to production release.

o Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery.

4) Skills & Experience

1. Mandatory

o Knowledgeable in Electrical circuit analysis, filter designs/ configurations, etc.

o Design and simulation of power supplies DC/DC Convertors

o Design and control of power supplies

o Thermal design experience

o Testing experience of power supply power supplies, DC/DC convertors

o Mil std 810 and Mil Std 461 experience

o Delivered at least two quailed products to military

o 10 + experience in design ,development, testing and qualification of power supplies, DC-DC

Convertors

2. Preferred

o Embedded C experience

o MATLAB and Mathcad experience

o Part of software qualification of power supplies

5) Qualifications:

1. Mandatory

o B tech (Electrical or Electronics and communication)

2. Preferred

o MTech, PHD in power electronics
