Construction Industries Resource Industries and Energy Transportation - and providing financing and related services through our Financial Products segment Job Responsibilities Primary responsibility of this role is to lead the Global Virtual Product Development VPD Organization Managing the development validation deployment and execution of integrated simulation tools processes and systems for Caterpillar Championing the Enterprise Simulation Strategy and the VPD Technology Strategy with enterprise leadership and facilitating the Enterprise Simulation Leaders Ensuring the VPD division within ICS is a valued partner and provider of simulation expertise to Caterpillar s product development and research programs Managing the overall business of high-performance computing and the simulation software resources used by the enterprise Supervising recruiting mentoring and developing a staff of over 300 Caterpillar engineers in the US and India in multiple simulation disciplines Role has direct reports in the US and India Executing day to day management activities aligned with strategy and business plan including ownership of internal and external partner relationships What you will have Technical Excellence Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges Fosters an environment that encourages supports and rewards technical excellence Provides recognized technical leadership to an organization that includes vision innovation superior technical competence and the desire to excel Provides highly effective solutions to very complex technical challenges applying outstanding technical competence to understand and resolve issues Champions the use of new innovations and technologies that solve technical business problems Consistently applies the latest developments practices and technologies to resolve complex technical challenges in one s general area of competence Develops organizational policies best practices and management methods that are highly conducive to technical excellence Communicating for Impact Knowledge of the concepts tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating ability to apply these theories to receive transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others in various situations Clarifies technical terminology to audiences translates it in an easy to understand manner Advises others on tailoring the message to adapt to others cultures and perspective especially when communicating with globally diverse audiences Reconciles disparate information across the organization to create a holistic message Interprets business plans or solutions to top management to gain both collective intelligence and support Coaches others on improving their own communication methods and techniques Stays informed on proven best practices for effective listening and communication skills Collaborating Globally Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results Expands networks of leaders across enterprises and boundaries to make positive collaborations for business Develops performance expectations for team accomplishments to encourage members to collaborate Mentors others on collaborative behaviors and motivates teams to invest in and commit to each other s success Creates a climate for collaboration in the organization and minimizes barriers to collaboration Designs advanced tools and methodologies for teams to better perform collaborative tasks Establishes best practices for employees to collaborate with people from different cultures and have different perspectives Basic Qualifications Bachelor s degree in Engineering 15 years of product development experience 10 years supervisory experience 5 years of experience working in a global team Proven understanding of how simulation is used within product development Top candidates will also have Master s or PhD in Engineering Strong customer focus and ability to influence Ability to quickly understand technology changes and drive advancement within the organization Ability to understand both technology and business domains Strong communication skills in particular proven ability to communicate with a wide breadth of technical audiences including global technology partners internally and externally Cross functional and cross business unit experience Exceptional skills in managing a global execution team Relocation is available for this position Posting Dates August 26 2024 -
