Job Description

The role of a video editor is to take raw video footage and create a polished and professional finished product that aligns with the companys branding and messaging.

Here are the key roles and responsibilities of a video editor:

Video Editing: The primary responsibility of a video editor is to edit the raw footage into a finished video product that tells a story and engages the target audience. This includes cutting and splicing footage, adding transitions and effects, and selecting music and sound effects.

Colour Correction and Grading: Adjust the colour and lighting of the footage to create a cohesive and polished look.

Audio Editing: Work with sound engineers to ensure high audio quality and that any music or sound effects are appropriately balanced with the video.

Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the marketing and creative teams, such as designers and copywriters, to ensure that the video aligns with the companys overall branding and messaging.

Creative Input: Provide creative input and suggestions for the direction of the video based on their knowledge of the medium and the target audience.

Project Management: Manage timelines and deadlines and work with other team members to ensure the project is completed on time.

Software Proficiency: Should be proficient in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro and be able to learn new software as needed.

Overall, a video editor is responsible for creating a polished and professional finished video product that tells a story and engages the target audience. Requirements

- BSc degree in film studies, cinematography or other related fields.
- Proven work experience as a Video Editor.
- Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (e.g Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut)
- Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio.
- Thorough knowledge of timing, motivation and continuity.
- Familiarity with special effects, 3D and compositing.
- Creative mind and storytelling skills.
