Job Description Brief Description About The Project Health research is implicated in a range of harmful environmental impacts such as energy and other resource consumption, plastic use and other waste generation. Numerous tools have been developed to enable and encourage researchers to assess and reduce these impacts, including guidelines, carbon calculators, and certification systems. However, these tools raise potential ethical, social and practical issues, including tensions with local values, issues of injustice, inequity, possible unintended consequences and so on. This project aims to assess the ethical, social and practical implications of using these tools using a qualitative engagement approach. Research Assistant No. of Vacancy: One Preferred Qualifications - Master's in Public Health, Sociology, Bioethics, Anthropology or similar or Bachelors in the Liberal Arts from a well established university. - Skills in qualitative research methods, including conducting and analysing qualitative data, the use of NVivo - Organisational and administrative skills The successful applicant must be able to work independently as well as work collaboratively within a diverse research team. The applicant must be flexible to working across different time zones. Travel across countries is envisioned. Experience: Qualitative research experience of 3-4 years Language: English Salary: Rs.35000/-per month Location: Bangalore Roles And Responsibilities - Conduct qualitative research through in person interviews with lab staff at the selected sites in Bangalore (including institution/research directors, research fellows, PhD scholars, associates, technicians, PIs etc.). Conduct Walk along interviews (following ethnographic methods) at the selected labs. - Conduct in-depth interviews with health research actors outside the research sites (government / policy makers, research fellows, associates, technicians, PIs, funding body representatives, any other relevant actors) to gain a wider diversity of views - Plan, coordinate and attend training workshops with tool developers and conduct similar workshops with lab staff along with Focus Group Discussions to understand the perceived relevance of these tools and any perceived issues - Follow up with potential users trialling the tools for 3-6 months with reminders on maintaining a digital diary and photo voice, followed by FGDs to gather feedback experiences (barriers/benefits of tools), unintended (or intended) consequences, and perceptions of the tool as a way to address sustainability. - Conduct inductive coding on all of the above empirical data scheme followed by discussions with other collaborating countries - Organize co-designing workshops with research communities and other country investigators to develop communication resources - Contribute to additional resources including webinars and video case studies of best practice - for the research community of practice being built during the SHARE project. - Participate in project coordination and knowledge exchange meetings throughout the SHARE project, and to assist with administration duties Interested Candidates May Send Their Resume To The Principal Investigator Environmentally Sustainable HeAlth Research (SHARE) Project St. John's Research Institute To Apply: E-mail cover letter and curriculum vitae with 3 references (names and email addresses / phone numbers) by on or before 18th October 2025 to [Confidential Information] & cc to [HIDDEN TEXT] For more information, please visit our website www.sjri.res.in
