The Opportunity
As an Engineering Manager you lead and manage multiple of our Product Engineering teams, guiding the strategy and execution across multiple projects or workstreams to deliver unparalleled value to our customers. You are responsible for engineering performance, practices, quality and delivery in partnership with the Product Management team.
You are a leader, comfortable with managing innovation, software development and product delivery, coaching teams, an agile mindset, and a clear understanding of the business bigger picture. You play a pivotal role in inspiring and motivating everyone in the Product Development group to be the best they can be.
The Specifics
- Build and grow high performing teams.
- You will have multiple product development teams reporting to you either directly, indirectly (manager of managers) or both. You will recruit, grow and engage these teams.
- Create an inclusive, engaged and diverse environment where people can do their best work, creating conditions which allow people to flourish.
- Lead the software development lifecycle and operational processes for your teams.
- Through partnering with the Product Management team ensure your teams have clear missions, understand their purpose and are continually delivering balanced customer and technical value at a high rate.
- Understand customer needs and feedback through engaging with customers via multiple channels (sales, support etc) and via engaging and supporting internal stakeholders from multiple teams (Product Management, Sales, Delivery, Customer Success).
- You will enable and support your teams running effective and efficient operational processes through partnering with the platform team, security team and other stakeholders.
- You will provide oversight and governance support for the product capabilities needed as part of wider delivery programs.
- Guide your teams to continuously improve their processes and ways of working to maximise developer experience and the delivery of value to internal stakeholders and customers. Foster adoption of an 'experiment and learn' mindset.
- Continually improve the quality of the code, product and broader engineering system including tooling, processes and capability.
- Your strong technical background allows you to contribute during technical discussions from implementation and code quality to test approaches to infrastructure selection and non functional characteristics to architecture design. You know what good looks like and can raise the bar across Gentrack.
- Foster the evolution of a product development team [SS1] culture in a growing organization including maturing and adapting our processes, tooling and taking on strategic initiatives which improve developer experience for all. Youll use data and insights to inform decision making.
What we&aposre looking for (you dont need to be a guru at all, were looking forward to coaching and collaborating with you)
- Experience managing software development teams in a product development context.
- Experience with managing multiple teams.
- Experience with one or more prominent programming languages (C#, Typescript, C/C++).
- A gardener in mind - knows how to seed, grow and nurture - people and code. You have an appetite for helping others learn.
- Strong skills of influence and organisational savvy, your impact extends beyond your teams to the wider organisation.
