We need a qualified Phlebotomist who has very good exposure to blood drawing skills. Should be confident on the role with dedication at work.Should be good at communicating in clarity and thoughts to meet client demands.Key Responsibilities 1. Blood Collection Draw blood from patients, donors, or clients using venipuncture, fingerstick, or heelstick methods. Select appropriate collection equipment (needles, tubes, syringes) based on the type of test. Ensure proper labeling of samples to prevent mix-ups. 2. Patient Interaction and Care Verify patient identity before collection. Explain the procedure to patients to reduce anxiety. Provide reassurance and maintain a calm environment during the procedure. Monitor patients for adverse reactions (e.g., dizziness, fainting) and provide first aid if needed. 3. Specimen Handling Properly label, store, and transport samples to the laboratory. Ensure samples are handled in accordance with safety and quality protocols. Maintain accurate records for each collection. 4. Infection Control and Safety Follow strict hygiene and sterilization procedures. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and masks. Dispose of needles and sharps in accordance with biomedical waste regulations. 5. Coordination and Communication Work closely with laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of samples. Communicate any unusual patient reactions or collection difficulties to the medical team. Keep doctors and nurses informed of any collection issues. 6. Record-Keeping Maintain detailed records of patient interactions and samples collected. Enter data into hospital or laboratory management systems. Ensure documentation complies with healthcare regulations and privacy laws. Skills and Competencies Required Technical Skills Proficiency in venipuncture and other blood collection techniques. Knowledge of laboratory equipment and sample handling. Familiarity with medical terminology. Interpersonal Skills Strong communication skills to explain procedures clearly. Empathy and patience in dealing with anxious or unwell patients. Professional demeanor and compassionate bedside manner. Attention to Detail Accurate labeling and record-keeping to prevent errors. Careful handling of samples to ensure test accuracy. Physical Stamina Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive procedures. Manual dexterity for handling delicate instruments. Safety Awareness Knowledge of infection control measures.
