Job Description

We are seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to lead the design and development of software data and analytics applications for Research. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software engineering principles, strong leadership, and problem-solving skills. This role requires close collaboration with business analysts, scientists, and other engineers to create high-quality, scalable software solutions. You will be responsible for fostering innovation, developing a team of expert software engineers, and ensuring solutions align with business goals.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Talent Growth & People Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of engineers. You will focus on nurturing future leaders and providing growth opportunities through coaching, training, and mentorship, fostering an environment that encourages learning and innovation.
- Solution Design & Implementation: Partner closely with product and business teams to lead software engineering solutions. You will design, develop, and implement applications and modules, including custom reports, interfaces, and enhancements.
- Requirements & Architecture: Analyze and understand the functional and technical requirements of applications and systems, translating them into software architecture and design specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Develop and implement unit tests, integration tests, and other testing strategies to ensure the quality of the software.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including platform, functional IT, and business stakeholders, to ensure that solutions are scalable, secure, and efficient.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in a General Purpose High-Level Language (NodeJS/Koa, Python, or Java).
- Proficiency in a Javascript UI Framework (React or ExtJs).
- Proficiency in SQL (Oracle, PostGres, or Databricks).
- Experience with big data technologies (Spark, Databricks), API integration, serverless, and microservices architecture is a plus.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
- Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is preferred.
- Experience with version control systems like Git and a strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies are preferred.
- AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification is preferred.

Qualifications

- A Master's degree, a Bachelor's degree, or a Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Computational Chemistry, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Experience in implementing and supporting custom software development for drug discovery is preferred.
