SRMB STEEL Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives that are tightly aligned with the overall business goals and the unique demands of the steel manufacturing sector. About the Role Talent Acquisition , Talent Management, Formulate, update, and ensure compliance with all organizational policies and procedures regarding employment, discipline, compensation, and safety. Responsibilities - Monitor and ensure the company's full compliance with all local, state, and central labor laws, industrial relations regulations, and statutory requirements specific to a manufacturing unit. - Manage and mitigate complex Industrial Relations issues, including maintaining cordial relations with labor unions (if applicable), resolving conflicts, and negotiating agreements. - Oversee and manage the grievance redressal process, disciplinary actions, and internal inquiries to ensure fairness and adherence to policy. - Foster a positive and productive work environment by planning and executing employee engagement, welfare, and communication initiatives, particularly for the plant workforce. - Direct all aspects of Talent Acquisition (recruitment and selection) for all levels, from shop-floor workers and technicians to Leadership positions , ensuring the availability of the right talent at the right time. - Oversee the Performance Management System (PMS), including goal setting, appraisals, feedback mechanisms, and career planning. - Plan, budget, and implement Learning & Development (L&D) programs to enhance employee skills, competency mapping, and leadership pipeline development specific to the steel industry's technical and safety needs. - Manage the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness, while guaranteeing compliance with all tax and statutory deductions. - Design, evaluate, and administer the company's compensation, benefits, and welfare schemes to ensure competitiveness and fairness. - Manage the HR budget and provide regular, data-driven reports (HR analytics) on key metrics like attrition, absenteeism, productivity, and manpower costs to senior management. - Oversee all general administrative functions for the plant and office, including security, housekeeping, and vendor management. - Ensure the efficient management of company facilities, including maintenance of office spaces, guesthouses, and employee transport. - Be responsible for the management and maintenance of the company's Statutory Registrations and Licenses related to the steel plant's operation (in conjunction with the compliance team). - Ensure a safe and standardized work environment by collaborating closely with the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) department. Qualifications - Education: Master's degree (MBA/PGDM) in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field is essential. A Law degree would be an added advantage. - Experience: Minimum of 20-25 years of progressive experience in HR, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably as a Plant HR Head or Head of HR in a large-scale manufacturing or heavy industry like Steel, Cement, or Power. - Specific Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Indian labor laws, particularly the Factories Act, Industrial Disputes Act, PF, ESI, and statutory compliance for a manufacturing setup. Required Skills - Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. - Commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability. - Digital Skill Uplift: Responsible for assessing the digital skills gap within the HR/Admin team and developing training programs to ensure the team can operate and manage the new digital ecosystem. Preferred Skills - Strategic Acumen: Ability to link HR and administrative actions directly to the steel plant's long-term production and business goals. - Cybersecurity Awareness: Ensure all new digital and AI tools adhere to strict data privacy and cybersecurity protocols, especially concerning sensitive employee PII (Personally Identifiable Information). - AI Tool Selection & Integration: Ability to identify, evaluate, and successfully integrate AI-powered tools and platforms into existing HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and administrative systems. - Examples of target AI use cases: Predictive Attrition Modeling, AI-driven recruitment/screening, Chatbots for employee query resolution, and Automated Compliance Monitoring. - Data-Driven Decision Making: Proficiency in leveraging data analytics and AI-generated insights to inform workforce planning, compensation strategies, and industrial relations forecasting. - Change Leadership: Proven ability to champion and drive organizational change, overcome resistance, and communicate the vision of digital transformation effectively to the plant floor and management. - Negotiation & Influence: Exceptional skills in managing dialogue with unions, government officials, and internal stakeholders to achieve consensus and organizational objectives. - Ethical Judgment: Demonstrated commitment to fairness, transparency, and high ethical standards, particularly when dealing with confidential employee and financial data. - Resilience & Pressure Handling: Capacity to maintain composure and make sound decisions under the high-pressure, safety-critical, and often demanding environment of a manufacturing/steel plant.
