junior accountant performs entry-level financial and accounting tasks, such as maintaining financial records, posting journal entries, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements and reports under the supervision of senior staff. Key requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel, strong analytical and organizational skills, and meticulous attention to detail.
Key ResponsibilitiesBookkeeping and Data Entry: Record financial transactions, maintain journals, and ensure accurate data entry. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices, manage vendor payments, and track outstanding customer balances. Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile bank statements and resolve any discrepancies to ensure account accuracy. Financial Reporting Assistance: Assist senior accountants in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports. General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and ensure all account balances are correct. Payroll Processing: Help with the administration of monthly payroll and related tasks. Audit Assistance: Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and data. Compliance: Stay informed on financial regulations and ensure company policies are followed. Essential Skills & QualificationsEducation: A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is typically required. Software Proficiency: Strong knowledge of accounting software and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for ensuring accuracy in financial records. Analytical Skills: The ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and solve problems is key. Organizational & Time Management: Excellent organizational skills are needed to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills are necessary for interacting with colleagues. Confidentiality: The ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion is a must.
