We at Rocket Software are looking for Software Engineer III (Mainframe Assembler, HLASM) role. Job Overview: The Software Engineer-III designs, develops, troubleshoots, and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software tools including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and Internet-related tools. Determines software's compatibility with hardware and/or influences software's design in relation to hardware. Required Qualifications - 7+ years of professional experience in z/OS systems programming, security, or product engineering. - Strong proficiency in IBM Assembler and REXX. - Deep understanding of z/OS internals (APF, SVC, PC, cross-memory services, control blocks). - Demonstrated expertise in system dump reading and analysis. - Exposure to RACF, ACF2, and Top Secret-with working knowledge of security profiles, rules, and access controls. - Solid debugging and problem-solving skills in complex mainframe environments. - Ability to work independently at a mid-senior level, while collaborating closely with global, cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications - Experience with project management tools like Jira - Prior contribution to security-focused mainframe tools or utilities. - Excellent communication skills for working with distributed engineering teams and enterprise customers.
