At Airtel, the Regulatory (Public Policy) team is responsible for the development and execution of policy initiatives and strategies, working closely with business and industry stakeholders for the betterment of its customers and business, and monitoring and interpreting legislative and regulatory developments that impact the organization's objectives. An eligible candidate for this role is expected to be a lateral thinker interested in helping businesses and policymakers find a common ground. This role requires excellent communication skills, critical thinking, and a successful candidate will be working extensively with internal business teams and external stakeholdersto drive our organization's strategic goals and ensure alignment with public policy initiatives. There is immense potential for learning and creating tangible impact. This position requires a strong understanding of government policies, excellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. As a member of Airtel's Public Policy team, you will: Maintain and develop relationships with policymakers, regulators, and government stakeholders to advance Airtel's policy objectives. Lead advocacy and representation efforts across industry associations, think tanks and other collective forums to strengthen Airtel's position in sectoral policy debates. Proactively identify new and emerging policy issues and develop well-researched policy positions and recommendations to address them. Engage with think tanks, civil society organizations, and academia to shape important policy developments. Advise internal teams on the regulatory implications of products and services while working with a cross-functional team. RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in developing positions on regulations affecting the full range of policy areas that impact Airtel, focusing on telecom/mobility, trust & safety, cybersecurity, data privacy, AI, financial services, and broadcasting and digital entertainment. Lead and manage Airtel's participation in policy consultations, working groups, and government, industry dialogues, ensuring strategic alignment and representation of Airtel's perspective. Identify, track, and advise on legislative and policy trends, and develop strategies and policy language to further Airtel's interests. Create actionable strategies required for regulatory business partnering for larger business objectives of the Company. Collaborate with the business, legal, compliance, marketing, and communications teams on market-specific policy and business initiatives. Work with the business team to identify avenues for business development through policy initiatives. Candidates must demonstrate an interest in and understanding of business basics. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Master's level degree in Law/Economics/Political Science/Public Policy/Business/International Affairs or similar field. Minimum 3 to 6 years experience working with government, think tanks, public interest groups, or in the field of corporate public policy. Strong experience in managing relationships with industry associations and advocacy platforms. Ability to review and evaluate legislation and technical policy documents. Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-moving environment. Understanding of telecom, technology, data privacy frameworks, and laws that impact digital businesses. Ability to work independently as well as in a team across multiple tasks and locations.
