This includes identifying opportunities for tax savings, structuring transactions efficiently, and advising on tax implications of various business decisions like mergers and acquisitions. - Tax provision and financial reporting: Managing the tax provision process and ensuring accurate tax-related financial disclosures for internal and external reporting. - Tax research and knowledge maintenance: Staying updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the organization, and providing guidance to management and other departments. Key Skills - Deep expertise in US tax laws: Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations is paramount. - Tax accounting and financial reporting proficiency: Knowledge of accounting principles and experience with tax provision and reporting processes are essential. - Analytical and problem-solving skills: The ability to analyze complex tax issues, interpret tax laws, and develop innovative solutions is crucial. - Communication and interpersonal skills: Effectively communicating complex tax concepts to various stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, is vital for collaboration and influence. - Technology proficiency: Experience with tax preparation and accounting software (e.g., Ultras Tax, CCH Access, Lacerte, UltraTax, ProConnect, QBO & QBD) is often required. - Attention to detail: The slightest mistake in tax compliance can have significant consequences, making meticulous attention to detail essential. - Time management and organizational skills: Effectively managing workload, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing tasks are crucial, especially during busy tax season. - Adaptability to change: The tax landscape is constantly evolving, so tax executives need to be adaptable and stay updated on new regulations and technologies.
