Job Description Role Overview We are looking for a highly experienced MS SQL Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in managing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise-scale SQL Server environments. The ideal Candidate will play a critical role in operations/managed services projects by ensuring high availability, performance, and security of SQL databases, driving automation for DBA tasks, and serving as a trusted advisor for both on-premises and cloud SQL database operations (AWS RDS for SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Managed Instance). Your role within this dynamic team is essential for establishing networks and relationships across the client stakeholder ecosystem and ensuring service fulfillment. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other Deloitte leadership and stakeholders dedicated to the client. Your contributions will involve nurturing new and existing relationships, supporting presales life cycles, and playing a pivotal role in driving the success of Deloitte business growth for the specific client. Your work profile - Hands-on experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB administration - Strong knowledge of backup/recovery tools, performance tuning, and high availability solutions - Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL, MongoDB Atlas) - Proficiency in SQL scripting and automation using Shell, Python, or Power Shell - Understanding of security best practices and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities - Serve as the technical lead and SME for technical things related to Microsoft SQL Server. - Design, implement, and manage SQL Server solutions for OLTP, OLAP, and mixed workloads. - Provide performance tuning, query optimization, and database refactoring for enterprise workloads. - Architect and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) configurations using Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, and Log Shipping. - Oversee database backup, recovery strategies, patching, and capacity planning. - Collaborate with application development and infrastructure teams to support data integration, migrations, and deployments. - Ensure security, compliance, and access controls are properly implemented for all SQL environments. - Lead the automation of routine database tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and DevOps pipelines. - Drive cloud adoption and modernization of database workloads in Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, and IaaS VMs. - Document database environments, runbooks, and operational standards. - Support incident response and problem management, providing root cause analysis and resolution plans. Required Qualifications - Hands-on experience managing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in large-scale environments. - Deep technical expertise in SQL Server versions 20122019/2022. - Strong knowledge of T-SQL, indexing strategies, execution plans, and query performance tuning. - Proven experience with HA/DR technologies (Always On, Clustering, Replication, Log Shipping). - Experience with SQL Server in Azure, including Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, and IaaS deployments. - Hands-on experience in automating database tasks using PowerShell or T-SQL scripts. - Familiarity with DevOps practices and integrating database changes into CI/CD pipelines. - Solid understanding of database security, roles/permissions, and data encryption. - Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications - Microsoft certifications such as: - Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate - Microsoft Certified: Data Management and Analytics - Experience in SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS is a plus. - Exposure to other database platforms (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle) is a bonus. - Familiarity with ITIL practices and working in a Managed Services or Shared Services environment. Location and way of working - Base location: PAN India - This profile involves frequent travelling to client locations - Hybrid is our default way of working.
