PCB Assembly Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive PCB SMT Assembly Operator, Pick

and Place Machine Operator to oversee the assembly and production processes of

printed circuit boards (PCBs) and manage a technical lab environment. The ideal

candidate will be responsible for hands-on SMT assembly, operation and

maintenance of pick and place machines, and managing the day-to-day operations

of the lab, including inventory management, equipment calibration, and ensuring

high-quality production standards.

Key Responsibilities:

PCB SMT Assembly and Pick and Place Machine Operation:

● Operate and maintain automated pick and place machines for SMT

assembly, ensuring the accurate placement of components on PCBs.

● Set up, configure, and calibrate pick and place machines, ensuring optimal

performance during production.

● Perform manual SMT assembly tasks, including component soldering, hand

placement of small components, and rework as necessary.

● Conduct regular visual and automated inspections to ensure the quality of

the assembly process meets IPC standards.

● Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machine malfunctions, production

errors, or component placement failures.

● Maintain clean and organized work areas, adhering to safety and quality

control protocols.

● Oversee and manage the daily operations of the PCB assembly lab, ensuring

that equipment and tools are properly maintained and operational.

● Maintain inventory of materials, tools, components, and consumables

necessary for PCB assembly.

● Ensure that all equipment, including pick and place machines, soldering

stations, and inspection tools, are calibrated, maintained, and functional.

● Create and manage work schedules, ensuring the lab is running efficiently

and production deadlines are met.

● Implement and enforce lab safety procedures, ensuring compliance with

health and safety regulations.

Additional Responsibilities:

● Troubleshoot and resolve any production or equipment issues in the lab or

assembly line.

● Collaborate with engineering and quality control teams to improve assembly

processes, equipment utilization, and quality standards.

● Monitor production yields and quality metrics, adjusting processes as needed

to improve efficiency and product quality.

● Maintain detailed records of production data, lab activities, and equipment

maintenance.

● Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards

and internal company policies.

● Manage the ordering and restocking of materials, components, and tools,

ensuring lab operations run smoothly.

Requirements:

● High School Diploma or equivalent; technical certification in electronics,

PCB assembly, or related field is preferred.

● Proven experience in PCB SMT assembly, including operating pick and

place machines (e.g. Neoden, Juki, Yamaha, Panasonic).

● Hands-on experience with soldering, component placement, and PCB

rework techniques.

● Strong knowledge of SMT assembly processes and IPC standards.

● Excellent troubleshooting skills, particularly in machine operation and

assembly issues.

● Proven experience in managing or supervising a technical or assembly lab

environment.

● Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-

functional teams.

● Knowledge of inventory management and maintenance of equipment in a

technical setting.

● Proficiency with software used in the setup and programming of pick and

place machines.

Preferred Skills:

● Experience with different brands of pick and place machines (e.g. Neoden

Yamaha, Juki, Panasonic).

● Familiarity with PCB inspection tools such as Microscope or AOI

(Automated Optical Inspection)

● Previous experience with lab management or inventory control.

● Experience working in a clean room or highly regulated manufacturing

environment.
