Job Purpose
ToImplementSafetyManagementSystemandtoadviseandassistFactoryManagementinthefulfilmentofitsobligations, statutoryor otherwise concerning prevention of personal injuries and maintaining a safe workingenvironment
Business Responsibility AreasEnsureimplementationofSafetyManagementsystemin plantCoordinate, advise and conduct detailed safety studies of all jobs/activities in the plantCoordinate Safety committeemeetingsCheck and evaluate the effectiveness of the action taken or proposed to is taken to preventAccident/incidentIncorporate work permits / LOTO, wherever required, and monitor compliance against thesameAdvise the purchase and stores department in ensuring high quality and availability of personal protectiveequipmentAdvise and carry out plant safety inspections in order to observethephysicalconditionsofworkandtheworkpractices and procedures followed by the workers and to render advice on measures to is adopted for removing unsafe physical conditions and preventing unsafe actions byworkersPrepare safety audit, safety inspection and safety training calendar schedule Design and conduct suitable safety trainings and educational programmes for preventionofpersonal injuries and accidentsFacilitate accident, dangerous occurrence and industrial diseases investigation and to suggest remedial measures to themanagementAdvise and maintain all records as are necessary relating to accidents, dangerous occurrences and industrialdiseasesAdvise and prepare Safety Improvement Plans for theyearRender matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents and diseases to inspectorate offactoriesOrganize in association with the concerned departments campaigns, competitions, contests and other activities which will develop and maintain the interest of the workers in establishing and maintaining safe conditions of work and proceduresActively participate in the activities carried out regarding the safety in the concerned industrialareaLiaison with statutory authorities with respect compliance to Health and SafetyrequirementsEnsure MSDS availability of all chemical used in the plant and to disseminate information to allemployeesUpdate all safety documents as per statutory requirements, or otherwiseEnsure firefighting equipments of the plant are inworking conditionalways
QualificationsEssentialBSc/MSc/BE/BTechDiploma in Industrial Safety /ME-Safety -recognised by Respective State FactoriesRulesMinimum 50% marks throughout the education with firstattemptDesiredDiploma in Fire Safety from recognisedInstitute/UniversitySafety Auditor trained on Safety Management System based on British SafetyCouncil StandardsLead Auditor with respect to OHSAS18001Previous ExperienceEssential7-8 years in Safety Department in Manufacturing industry, preferably in chemical/petrochemical industryDesiredImplementation of Safety management system based on British Safety CouncilStandards
