About the Job

As a Seismologist, you will be responsible for processing critical borehole and surface seismic monitoring campaigns. This role involves implementing induced seismicity monitoring and mitigation plans, leading real-time data processing efforts, and executing a traffic light system. Additionally, you will develop algorithms to enhance real-time seismic hazard analysis to guide operational response protocols. Open to candidates at all experience levels who meet the qualifications, this role offers the opportunity to collaborate with geophysicists, fiber optic experts, reservoir engineers, and computational scientists.

Key Responsibilities

- Implement advanced seismic event detection and location algorithms.
- Gather, interpret, and integrate microseismic data into geological modeling and reservoir performance evaluations.
- Analyze induced seismicity to assess potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate internally and externally with geophysicists, geologists, and engineers on induced seismicity and associated risks to improve reservoir understanding and refine development and operational response protocols.
- Develop advanced software and algorithms for real-time seismic hazard analysis using physics-based and/or statistical seismological methods.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Earth Sciences, Applied Geophysics, or Seismology from a recognized university (AICTE preferred).
- Hands-on experience with earthquake location software such as SeisComP, Antelope, Seisan, Earthworm, or open-source algorithms like NonLinLoc and HypoDD.
- Proficiency in earthquake codes, including Moment Tensor inversion, stress drop estimation, and integration of seismicity with Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical-Chemical Modeling; candidates with expertise in seismology and the ability to learn these skills are encouraged to apply.
- Familiarity with Linux operating systems and proficiency in Python for scripting and tool development related to seismic data processing and analysis.
- Preferred: Experience with machine learning applications in seismology.
