AI Engineer (Agentic Systems) Organization: A4I Lab (IIIT-B x Microsoft) Location: IIIT Bangalore Type: Contract (through March 2026) and extendable thereafter Experience: 3 to 5 years About A4I Lab AI Innovation and Inclusion Initiative (A4I) is a partnership between Microsoft and IIIT-B, collaborating with non-profit partners to harness AI for solving real-world challenges in education, healthcare, accessibility, and agriculture. A4I evolves innovations into open-source Digital Public Goods (DPGs) that are deployable at scale, fostering a strong AI innovation ecosystem for social impact. What you'll do We seek an experienced AI first engineer to join our core team in helping develop large-scale, agentic AI solutions and integrating them with live systems that deliver meaningful social impact. This role demands expertise in building intelligent agentic systems, orchestrating complex AI workflows, polishing existing AI and RAG based responses and developing scalable platforms that integrate LLMs, multi-modal inputs, and RAG-based architectures. You will play a key role in driving end-to-end innovation, from research to deployment working with cross-functional teams that include architects, data scientists, and researchers from partner organizations. Must-have skills - Hands-on experience developing and integrating agent-based AI systems using frameworks like LangGraph, LlamaIndex, n8n, or any open-source or enterprise orchestration stacks. - Working knowledge of LLMs (enterprise and open source) and RAG-based architectures. - Experience with multi-modal data processing, multilingual translation setup, vector stores, graph databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) - Familiarity with MLOps, model deployment pipelines, containerization (Docker), and ML lifecycle orchestration. - Understanding of agentic patterns - memory, tool use, event-driven reasoning, and workflow composition. - Strong Python Programming. Qualifications - Bachelor's or Master's in CS or equivalent experience. - 3 to 5 years designing and building software with at least one live E2E agentic workload. Preferred qualifications - Practical knowledge of VLMs and speech models, and fluency working with Azure OpenAI. - Contributions to open-source AI tooling or internal framework development.
