Job Description

Key Responsibilities

- Architect & Optimize:Design, implement, and maintain robust SQL Server database architectures to support high-availability enterprise applications.
- Administration Excellence:Perform advanced DBA tasks including installation, configuration, patching, backup & recovery, and proactive system monitoring.
- Performance Tuning:Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using tools like Query Store, Execution Plans, and Index Optimization strategies.
- Security & Compliance:Develop and enforce database security strategies, ensuring adherence to internal policies and external regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Collaboration:Partner with software development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to optimize schema design, stored procedures, and query performance.
- Resilience Engineering:Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions such as Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, and Replication.
- Upgrade & Migration:Lead database upgrade and migration initiatives with minimal impact to business operations.
- Documentation & Standards:Create and maintain comprehensive system documentation, database runbooks, and compliance audit materials aligned with industry best practices.
- Mentorship:Guide and mentor junior DBAs, fostering a knowledge-sharing culture and technical excellence within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Bachelors degree inComputer Science,Information Technology, or related field.
- Minimum4 yearsof focused experience inSQL Server DBAroles within enterprise environments.
- Deep proficiency inSQL Server (2016/2019/2022)administration and infrastructure management.
- Proven expertise inquery optimization,indexing strategies, anddatabase performance tuning.
- Strong understanding ofdatabase security, including authentication (Windows/SQL), encryption (TDE), and auditing.
- Hands-on experience withHA/DR solutionssuch as Always On AGs, Database Mirroring, Replication, and Log Shipping.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Certifications:

- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- Microsoft Certified: Data Management and Analytics

Nice to Have

- Experience withPowerShell scriptingor automation usingSQL Server Agent.
- Familiarity withcloud-basedSQL deployments (Azure SQL, AWS RDS).
- Exposure toDevOpsenvironments andCI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge ofmonitoring toolslike Redgate, SolarWinds DPA, or SQL Sentry.
