OverviewThe Lead DBA will serve as the Subject Matter Expert and Off-shore team lead reporting to the data services manager within the Data Services team The role will provide technical IaaS and PaaS database expertise across heterogeneous database and platforms specifically Oracle and MS SQL They will assist with design performance monitoring and tuning configuration troubleshooting and building of databases whilst also providing mentoring and coaching to the wider Data Services team Among the necessary skills for this job include problem-solving organizational interpersonal and communication and experience supporting BAU activities alongside project work ensuring data integrity is maintained and the best possible service available to support business processes including the provision of out of hours on call Key Accountabilities and main responsibilitiesStrategic FocusTo meet SLA all the time with agreed quality with counterpart maintain good working relationships with colleagues collaborate with others to achieve the team s goals Manage the day-to-day tasks of the DBA team in Mumbai ensuring timely and frequent reporting to the data services manager Manage all aspects of the technical administration of database and system landscape including installing upgrading software and maintaining relevant documentation perform maintenance and deployment activities Assessing availability performance and capacity of services and resources to ensure cost-justifiable capacity and performance Driving a greater level of efficiency through optimising the utilisation of current and future system requirements and towards a more secure cost efficient and expedient database capability Providing technical support for critical production systems and for non-production systems Working with the Data Services manager and other key stakeholders to determine future system requirements Providing guidance and technical advice to the management and other team members Contribute to the development and implementation of a best practice database system environment ensuring that standards security and integrity of the databases and systems are in line with industry standards Ensuring that Security is at the forefront of everything we do Development and merging process methodology is correctly defined and applied to software and systems to minimise risk in Production environments caused by poor code management techniques skills Ensuring that working with DevOps the Development Team has the right environment to maximise the development Teams efficacy and obstacles are removed and automation introduced where appropriate Ensuring project and change release s are packaged to the right quality repeatable between environments without change or modification and deployed to the target environments - ultimately to Production without detriment or issue in agreed timescales Weak points in Process Technology and Service is addressed through a culture of continual improvement Software and processes are correctly documented to ensure single points of knowledge do not become a problem and skills are distributed across the team and department Ensuring that software Deliverables Artefacts as part of any Change Project are progressed providing appropriate status reporting and updates as requested by the Line Project Change Manager Operational Management The operational support and continuous improvement of the Oracle and MS SQL estate and processes for Development and Test environments System Load Performance UAT up to and including Production Automation process efficiency and appropriate tooling Code Management and Deployment Configurations is utilised to reduce cycle times and improve reliability audit and traceability for all system deployments across multiple applications Process best practice and database build standards are consistently applied and constantly improved upon People Leadership Provide training to the IT support teams on supported tools and environments Work collaboratively across the firm to achieve the Goals of the team company Governance Risk Provide strong governance for the management and access of live data in environments where required Client Data Take Up and to ensure anonymisation technologies practice is adhered to per GDPR requirements Production environments are protected by governance good practice process design and fit for purpose environments to the left of Pre-Prod supporting all project and change activity Experience Personal Attributes Minimum of 7-10 years Oracle and MS SQL DBA experience in a production and cloud environment Team lead skills with great communication skills Be able to defines and evaluate database maintenance tools monitoring and build processes Comprehensive knowledge of database administration design installation troubleshooting of Oracle database RDBMS from 9i to current versions Demonstrable skills of working in at least one public cloud Comprehensive knowledge and experience of Database Mirroring Log Shipping Clustering Availability Groups Transactional Replication ETL Experience working with automation deployment tools Strong understanding of Infrastructure as Code and Certified Pipelines Scripting skills terraform python etc Ability to develop and implement data security guidelines while making data available to those authorised to have access Ability to ensure the technical integrity of corporate databases by protecting against the loss or misuse of information and designing backup recovery strategies Demonstrable experience of supporting large scale critical production databases Database performance and optimisation expertise Monitoring and development tool experience e g Oracle Enterprise Manager and TOAD Cloud engineering skills understanding Desirable Multi cloud experience in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure experience Azure Cloud experience AWS Cloud experience Ability to develop and implement data security guidelines while making data available to those authorised to have access Experience in automated testing of all database releases Experience in support for all database releases Link Group
