Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for an Engineering Manager at Aumnatic Systems Pvt Ltd in Navi Mumbai. As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers to design, develop, and deliver innovative hardware and embedded software solutions across our focus sectors: Toytronics, Transport, Medical Devices, and Consumer Electronics. You will oversee end-to-end project execution, foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, and ensure seamless integration of hardware and software systems. This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and inspire a team of hardware and software engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear goals, and support professional development.
- Hardware and Embedded Software Development: Oversee the design, development, and testing of embedded systems, including PCB design, firmware development, and hardware-software integration for products in transport ticketing, medical devices, toys, and consumer electronics.
- Project Management: Lead multiple projects from concept to production, ensuring on-time delivery within scope, budget, and quality standards. Define project milestones, allocate resources, and manage risks effectively.
- System Integration: Drive the integration of hardware and embedded software systems, ensuring compatibility, reliability, and performance across diverse applications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical requirements.
- Innovation and Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance design processes, optimize manufacturing workflows, and implement industry best practices to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, manufacturing teams, and external partners (e.g., medical device companies, toy manufacturers) to align on project goals and deliverables.
- Technical Oversight: Ensure adherence to industry standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance protocols for all engineering outputs.
- Problem Solving: Address complex technical and operational challenges, making data-driven decisions to keep projects on track.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of designs, processes, and project progress. Provide regular updates to senior leadership on project status and team performance.

Qualifications

- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in embedded hardware design, software development, or related fields, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
- Proven track record of managing end-to-end product development cycles in the ESDM industry (experience in transport, medical devices, or toy electronics is highly desirable).
- Strong expertise in PCB design, microcontroller-based systems, firmware development, and hardware-software integration.
- Hands-on experience with project management methodologies and tools

Technical Skills:

- Proficiency in embedded systems design, including microcontrollers (e.g., ARM, PIC, AVR), RTOS, and communication protocols (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, CAN).
- Familiarity with design tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, or equivalent for PCB design and schematic capture.
- Knowledge of programming languages like C, C++, or Python for embedded systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM (Design for Manufacturability), and quality assurance standards.
- Understanding for Quality Management standards for electronics and design and manufacturing shall be an added advantage.

Leadership Skills:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment.

- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with ESDM industry trends, regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485 for medical devices), and quality management systems is a plus.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a rapidly evolving startup environment, with a proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a startup or high-growth company in the ESDM sector.
- Knowledge of IoT, wireless communication (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi), or sensor-based systems.
- Exposure to regulatory compliance for medical devices or transport systems.
- Prior experience scaling hardware production or collaborating with contract manufacturers.
