US Mortgage Underwriter with AUS and Residential Mortgage

Job Description Title : Mortgage Underwriter (U.S. Residential Lending) and AUS Location:India(Remote) Shift :Weekdays - 8 am to 5 pm/ 12 pm to 9 pm / 2 pm - 11 pm EST Saturdays - 8 am 5 pm EST Sun - 8 am to 1 pm EST Job Summary: The Mortgage Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and verifying loan applications to ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA, USDA), and all applicable federal and state regulations. This role requires a keen attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and a deep understanding of mortgage lending processes and risk assessment. Key Responsibilities: - Review and analyze all loan documentation (income, assets, credit, collateral, title, appraisal, etc.) for accuracy and completeness. - - Determine borrower's creditworthiness and loan eligibility based on established underwriting guidelines and investor criteria. - - Issue conditional approvals, suspensions, or denials, clearly documenting the rationale for underwriting decisions. - - Ensure loans meet all applicable regulatory requirements (e.g., TRID, RESPA, HMDA, ECOA). - - Communicate effectively with loan officers, processors, and closing teams to resolve conditions and expedite loan decisions. - - Maintain productivity and quality standards while adhering to turnaround time expectations. - - Stay up to date with changes to investor and agency guidelines, underwriting systems, and compliance regulations. - - Utilize automated underwriting systems (AUS) such as DU (Desktop Underwriter)and LP (Loan Product Advisor). - - Identify potential fraud and escalate findings per company procedures. - - Contribute to continuous process improvement to enhance the borrower experience and operational efficiency.
