Job Description: PPC Manager (Automotive Sheet Metal Industry)

Position Title: PPC Manager

Location: Chakan, Pune.

Reports To: Head of Production or Operations Manager

Department: Production Planning and Control (PPC)

Job Summary:

The PPC Manager is responsible for overseeing the production planning and control process in the automotive sheet metal manufacturing industry. This role involves managing the production schedule, ensuring that all materials, resources, and processes are optimized for efficient production, and meeting customer demand while minimizing waste. The PPC Manager will work closely with production teams, supply chain management, and other departments to ensure that manufacturing operations run smoothly, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Production Planning & Scheduling:

- Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, and production capacity.
- Ensure the timely availability of materials and resources required for production, including coordination with procurement and inventory teams.
- Monitor production progress and adjust plans as necessary to meet deadlines and handle delays or disruptions.

1. Inventory Control:

- Manage and optimize the inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished goods to ensure minimal stockouts or excess inventory.
- Work with the procurement department to ensure timely procurement of materials required for production.

1. Capacity Management:

- Analyze production capacity and recommend adjustments based on forecasted demand and current production performance.
- Monitor machine downtime, maintenance schedules, and labor allocation to optimize production capacity.

1. Process Improvement:

- Identify opportunities for process optimization and cost reduction within the production planning cycle.
- Implement lean manufacturing techniques and continuous improvement strategies to enhance productivity and reduce waste.

1. Quality Control:

- Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure production standards meet automotive industry regulations and customer requirements.
- Ensure that production processes adhere to safety, quality, and environmental standards.

1. Collaboration & Coordination:

- Work closely with the sales, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure customer orders are fulfilled on time.
- Liaise with production teams to ensure smooth communication between planning, production, and finishing departments.
- Provide regular updates on production progress and highlight any potential issues that could affect delivery timelines.

1. Data Analysis & Reporting:

- Analyze production data, identify trends, and provide insights on production efficiency and process improvements.
- Prepare regular reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and production costs for senior management.

1. Team Leadership:

- Supervise and guide a team of planners, ensuring their tasks are aligned with the company's objectives.
- Train and mentor team members in best practices for production planning and control.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Production Management, Supply Chain Management, or related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
- Experience:
- At least 7+ years of experience in a production planning role within the automotive manufacturing industry, preferably with experience in sheet metal fabrication or related fields.
- Proven experience in managing production schedules, inventory control, and process optimization.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of production planning software (ERP systems like SAP, Oracle, or industry-specific tools).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration across multiple departments.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
- Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of automotive industry regulations, quality standards, and production processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities.
