Job Description

Consultant - Histopathology job for UK Location - GMC Specialist &FRCPATH & Subspeciality interest in SKIN,GI, HAEM,BREAST & HISTO.

Core Responsibilities:

- Specimen Handling and Processing: Receiving, dissecting, and preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examination.
- Microscopic Examination and Diagnosis: Examining tissue samples under a microscope to identify abnormalities and provide diagnoses.
- Report Writing: Compiling detailed clinical reports based on microscopic findings, including descriptions of tissue, diagnosis, and prognosis.
- Collaboration with Clinicians: Working closely with clinicians to discuss findings, provide advice on treatment options, and ensure accurate diagnosis and patient care.
- Autopsy: In some cases, performing autopsies to determine the cause of death.
- Cancer Screening: Responsibility for reporting on cancer screening biopsies.
- Staging and Grading Tumors: Assessing specimens from patients with cancer and playing a role in planning their treatment by staging and grading their tumors.
- Training and Development: Participating in training and development activities to maintain and enhance skills and knowledge.
- Quality Assurance: Assisting in ensuring compliance with quality standards and regulations.
- Research: Contributing to research activities in the field of histopathology.
- Teaching: Depending on the role, histopathologists may also be involved in teaching and training junior staff.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex information and make accurate diagnoses.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is essential for accurate diagnosis and reporting.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
- Communication Skills: Effective communication skills are crucial for working with clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of Pathology and Related Disciplines: In-depth knowledge of both clinical and pathological aspects of diseases.
- FRCPath or Equivalent Qualification: For consultant roles, a Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath) or equivalent qualification is typically required.
- CCT or Equivalent: Completion of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent qualification is also often required.
- Experience: Experience in SKIN,GI, HAEM,BREAST & HISTO.
- Specialized Training: Some roles may require specialized training in areas such as gastrointestinal or hepatobiliary pathology.
