Lead Software Engineer

Job Description Join us as a Lead Software Engineer. You will be focussing on architecting and maintaining large-scale observability solutions, with a strong emphasis on Open Telemetry. You will be instrumental in driving strategies for logs, metrics, and traces, ensuring our systems are robustly instrumented for actionable insights and reliability. To be successful as Lead Software Engineer, you should have experience with: - Experience in large-scale observability for distributed systems. - Advanced expertise with Open Telemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing platforms. - Strong knowledge of structured logging, metrics, and tracing across multiple programming languages (Java, Python, Go, Node.js). - Proven ability to develop and operationalise SLOs and SLIs using observability data. - Design, build, and maintain observability platforms, prioritising comprehensive instrumentation and consistent emission of metrics, logs, and traces using OpenTelemetry. - Develop scalable observability strategies and best practices for product teams, ensuring seamless Observability. - Lead adoption of tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, and Grafana across multiple languages and frameworks. Some Other Highly Valued Skills May Include - Define and refine SLOs and SLIs with engineering and product teams, ensuring reliable system health measurement. - Collaborate with teams to identify observability gaps, improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes. - Mentor engineers on advanced instrumentation, observability design patterns, and effective use of dashboards and alerting. - Evaluate and recommend emerging observability technologies to enhance platform reliability. - Document and share observability practices, promoting team expertise in OpenTelemetry and core observability concepts This role is based in our Pune office. Purpose of the role To design, develop and improve software, utilising various engineering methodologies, that provides business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. Accountabilities - Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance. - Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives. - Collaboration with peers, participate in code reviews, and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing. - Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth. - Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions. - Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
