Job DescriptionOverview
We are seeking highly motivated and academically accomplished individuals to join our team of educators as Faculty Members for our IAS Academy. This role is central to our mission of guiding aspirants through one of the most competitive examinations in the country the Civil Services Examination (UPSC). The Civil Services Examination is not just a test of knowledge, but also of analytical ability, clarity of thought, and the capacity to interlink diverse topics. Therefore, we are looking for individuals who not only possess subject expertise but also have the ability to translate that knowledge into meaningful classroom experiences tailored to the unique demands of the UPSC syllabus.
Subjects
Faculty positions are open in the following subject areas: Indian Polity, History, Environment, Geography, Ethics, Indian Society, Science and Technology, and International Relations. Each of these subjects carries immense weight in the UPSC examination, both in the Preliminary and Mains stages, and requires a teaching approach that balances conceptual clarity with current affairs integration.
Who We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be someone who has either:
- Successfully appeared for the UPSC Mains or Interview stage, thereby possessing first-hand understanding of the exams expectations. Such experience provides valuable insight into the nature of questions, the examiners perspective, and the preparation strategies that work best.
- Demonstrated significant teaching experience in UPSC preparation, with a proven track record of handling General Studies or related subjects in an exam-oriented manner. Experienced educators who have consistently guided aspirants in building strong conceptual foundations and improving answer-writing will be particularly valued.
- A clear and structured understanding of the different dimensions of the UPSC syllabusincluding its interlinkages, current affairs orientation, and demand for conceptual clarityis essential. Beyond knowledge, we value passion for teaching, the ability to simplify complex ideas, and a commitment to mentoring aspirants through their preparation journey. Candidates must be able to adapt their teaching to the dynamic nature of the exam and inspire students to stay motivated throughout their preparation.
Key Responsibilities
As a faculty member, your role will extend beyond classroom teaching to holistic mentorship. You will be expected to guide aspirants not only in understanding subject matter but also in developing the skills and strategies necessary for success. Core responsibilities include:
- Delivering engaging classes on your subject area, with a consistent focus on exam relevance, answer-writing orientation, and integration of Previous Year Questions (PYQs).
- Designing lecture plans and study material that bridge conceptual clarity with applied understanding required in the UPSC examination. Study materials must combine static content with contemporary issues, helping students to contextualize concepts in real-world applications.
- Conducting doubt-clearing sessions, offering personalized academic support, and addressing the diverse needs of aspirants. Each student comes with unique strengths and weaknesses, and a faculty member must be approachable and committed to nurturing them accordingly.
- Preparing practice questions and revision modules derived from class content, ensuring that students are able to reinforce their learning effectively. Regular assessments, mock tests, and model answers are integral to the learning cycle.
- Encouraging students to develop analytical skills, inter-disciplinary linkages, and answer-writing strategies essential for success in UPSC Mains. The ability to connect one subject with another, link concepts to current developments, and articulate them coherently in answers is the hallmark of UPSC preparation.
- Maintaining high levels of classroom discipline, professionalism, and academic rigor. A faculty member serves not only as a teacher but also as a role model for aspirants, and is expected to uphold integrity, dedication, and discipline at all times.
