About the role:

The Para Athletics Coach is responsible for designing and delivering inclusive, high-performance training programs tailored to various para classifications. The role involves hands-on coaching, performance monitoring, and preparing athletes physically and mentally for competition.

Working closely with a multidisciplinary support team, the coach will track progress, adjust training plans, and ensure alignment with athlete goals. Key responsibilities also include talent scouting, promoting team spirit, ensuring compliance with safety and classification standards, and handling administrative tasks related to athlete development and logistics.

Responsibilities:

- Program Development: Design training plans tailored to para classifications; include strength, endurance, technique, and sport-specific modules; use adaptive equipment and ensure accessibility.
- Coaching and Preparation: Conduct hands-on training sessions; focus on technique and tactical awareness, safety, and individual development needs.
- Performance Monitoring: Collaborate with High performance team to track athlete progress with detailed logs; analyse performance data; set short- and long-term SMART goals.
- Team Leadership: Motivate athletes and build team spirit; promote sportsmanship and inclusivity; encourage peer mentoring.
- Competition Preparation: Prepare athletes physically and mentally for competitions; conduct mock events and strategy sessions; ensure readiness for classification and rules.
- Collaboration: Work with physiotherapists, psychologists, and other coaches; share athlete data and adjust plans collaboratively; attend interdisciplinary meetings.
- Recruitment: Assist in recruiting talented athletes for the Para Athletics program, assess potential recruits, and assist with talent scouting at competitions, performance planning, clear periodization towards key events.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records of athlete performance, attendance, and progress, and assist with event scheduling, travel, and logistics.
- Professional Development: Attend coaching clinics and webinars; stay updated with IPC and para sport trends; network with para sport communities. Staying up to date on the latest coaching techniques, technology, and trends in the field of athletics.
- Compliance: Follow safety and classification protocols; ensure ethical coaching practices; maintain documentation for audits.
- Maintain Accounts of new and future talent potential.

Minimum Requirement

- Minimum 3 years of Prior experience in Coaching Paralympic Athletes
- Prior experience in coaching high performance Paralympic athletes
- NIS (National Institute of Sports) certification in Athletics Coaching
- Background in track and field as an athlete or coach.
