Job Title: Optical Software Engineer Location: Bangalore,Chennai. Experience: 4–12 Years (STRICTLY) Employment Type: Permanent Notice Period: Immediate About the Company Our client is a leading global telecommunications and networking technology provider, known for delivering advanced optical networking solutions. They design and develop high-performance systems supporting next-generation OTN, ROADM, and Ethernet services for large-scale carriers and data centers. The company emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and excellence in optical software engineering to drive the future of intelligent networks. Job Description - Participate and contribute to architecture and software design discussions for optical networking products. - Design and implement new features and products from the ground up. - Develop embedded real-time applications (especially on Linux) with expertise in multicore and multithreaded programming. - Work on application-level development using C/C++, Python, and Shell scripting. - Collaborate on network management interfaces — CLI, NETCONF/RESTCONF/gNMI, YANG models, Confd/OpenYuma, and related frameworks. - Develop and support OTN/ROADM/Ethernet services, including transponders and line systems. - Work with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern CI/CD pipelines. - Use tools like Git, Jenkins, Valgrind, gtest/gmock, pytest, SonarQube, and Atlassian suite for development and testing. - Support multiple concurrent releases and hardware targets through the full software lifecycle. Mandatory Skills ✔ Strong experience in Embedded Linux development ✔ Proficiency in C, C++, Python, and Shell scripting ✔ Expertise in multicore, multithreaded systems ✔ Hands-on with YANG models, CLI/NETCONF/RESTCONF/gNMI ✔ Practical knowledge of OTN, ROADM, and Ethernet services ✔ Familiarity with containers (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD frameworks ✔ Experience using Git, Jenkins, and Atlassian tools Good to Have (Plus Skills) - Knowledge of open interfaces like OpenROADM, OpenConfig, or TIP - Familiarity with DDS, distributed messaging frameworks, and TCP/IP - Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and automation frameworks - Exposure to SonarQube, Fisheye/Crucible Educational Qualification 🎓 Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science Important Note (Please Read Before Applying) 🚫 Do NOT apply if: - You have less than 4 years or more than 12 years of relevant experience - You do not have embedded systems / optical domain experience - You are seeking remote-only roles (this is an on-site role in Bangalore or Chennai) - You lack experience in Linux, C/C++, or optical transport networking (OTN/ROADM) ✅ Apply ONLY if you meet ALL mandatory criteria above.
