Job Description Key Responsibilities - Lead or support product development and supply chain resiliency initiatives by identifying commercially feasible and cost-effective material solutions for R&D programs - Design and execute process development strategies with suppliers, covering casting, wrought processing, powder metallurgy, coating, joining, and related manufacturing technologies - Conduct experimental design, failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and continuous improvement using strong metallurgical expertise - Operate analytical and mechanical test equipment such as SEM, TEM, XRD, UTM, fatigue testing systems and correlate microstructure with mechanical properties - Collaborate with product design and advanced manufacturing teams to ensure material specifications align with system-level performance requirements - Make disposition decisions regarding PPAP submissions, non-conforming materials, and off-standard batches - Prepare detailed technical reports and collaborate with global internal business units; perform plant visits and supplier audits to troubleshoot material issues - Work with national labs, universities, and consortiums to jointly develop and evaluate new materials and manufacturing processes - Develop, document, and enforce standard procedures, specifications, and guidelines aligned with business and product needs
