Job Title Manager, Data Science

The Purpose of This Role

This role involves working with senior stakeholders in understanding and identifying the business requirements and needs in the areas of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. Scanning the fast paced external and internal environments in these areas, developing futuristic ideas that would benefit the firm and leading implementation of AI solutions to bring those ideas to life. Specific experience in AI areas like Natural Language Processing/Generation, Generative AI, Deep Learning, Reinforcement learning etc. is required.

- Analyze structured and unstructured data using data mining/statistical/machine learning/deep learning tools, Data visualization, Digital/ Web analytics tools and techniques and story telling.

The Skills That Are Key To This Role

Technical / Behavioral

- Expertise in Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) :

- Given a business problem, the ability to translate it into an ML problem and then conceptualize and design solutions from end-to-end.
- Possess extensive knowledge of and experience in applying data mining and Machine Learning concepts to solve complex business problems.
- Expert in handling various data types and structures: structured, unstructured, voice, static versus streaming data.
- Deep expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and/or Natural Language Understanding (NLU) techniques is a must.
- Strong knowledge of Generative AI and LLMs pre-training, fine-tuning, domain adaptation, Agentic workflows etc. is a must.
- Ability to research and learn from the state-of-the-art in ML/Gen AI and implement/prototype solutions in the Fidelity context.
- Communicate design decisions, tradeoffs, and findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Behavioral/Soft Skills

- Very good communication skills both written and oral.
- Self motivated individual with a strong sense of purpose.
- Independent execution abilities with no hand-holding required.
- Ability to work in cross functional teams.
- Must be able to mentor and guide junior team members.

- Additional Skills

- Expert in Python Programming
- Experience in building and deploying models on the cloud (AWS SageMaker)
- Comfort with Git source control and repo-driven development - continuous integration / continuous deployment
- Able to organize code using functional programming concepts, experience with statically typed functional programming a plus
- Comfortable working with data platforms independently able to write REST clients, SQL, PySpark, as needed.
- Exposure to containerization/Docker

The Skills that are Good To Have for this role

- Knowledge of Recommendation algorithms and Reinforcement learning
- Working experience with LangChain/LangGraph and/or LLamaIndex

The Expertise Were Looking For

- 4+ years of relevant experience with organizations known for cutting edge/ best-in-class applications of Artificial Intelligence.
- Masters Degree / PhD in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Operations Research)
