About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Analyst to join BP Energy&aposs dynamic IT&S Group. In this role, you will serve as a critical link between business units and digital teams, facilitating the translation of complex data into actionable insights. You will work within a cross-disciplinary team, collaborating closely with data scientists, engineers, product managers, and business partners to support strategic initiatives and operational excellence. Your expertise will help shape data-driven decision-making processes, improve existing analytics frameworks, and contribute to the development of innovative solutions that drive business growth and efficiency.
Qualifications
Essential qualifications include a Masters degree in a quantitative field such as statistics, mathematics, or data science. Candidates should possess approximately 5-7 years of hands-on experience in data analytics, data mining, and product analytics within fast-paced, complex environments. A deep understanding of data analytics tools and techniques across all stages of the data lifecycle is required, along with advanced SQL skills and proficiency in scripting languages like R or Python. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain data pipelines of moderate complexity, coupled with strong business acumen and stakeholder management capabilities. Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, or Spark is a plus, as is an advanced degree in analytics. Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their application in data analysis is desirable. A customer-centric, pragmatic mindset focused on delivering value swiftly, combined with excellent communication skills, will be essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
As a Data Analyst at BP Energy, your primary responsibilities will include acting as a bridge between business and digital teams, ensuring seamless communication and project execution. You will work closely with cross-disciplinary teams to analyze complex datasets, providing actionable insights that support strategic decision-making. Your role involves maintaining key metrics, developing dashboards, and automating data ingestion and manipulation processes to streamline workflows.
You will autonomously execute data analyses based on existing strategies, ensuring consistency and accuracy. Collaborating with data engineers, you will help define and build simple yet effective data models, integrating various tools to automate data collection, validation, and analysis. Adherence to best practices in data analytics and data governance will be vital, as will your ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
Mentoring junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning will be part of your responsibilities. You will also leverage your knowledge of data science and LLMs to enhance analytical capabilities, exploring innovative approaches to extract value from data. Your proactive engagement with stakeholders will ensure that analytics initiatives align with business needs, delivering measurable impact and supporting the company&aposs strategic objectives.
