Job Summary Oversees the execution of functional standards and best practices and provide technical assistance to the members of their Chapter Responsible for the quality of the code repository where applicable Acts as a conduit for the wider domain strategy for example technical standards Prioritises and makes available capacity for technical debt This role is around capability building it is not to own applications or delivery Maintain exemplary coding standards across the full stack contributing to both front-end and back-end codebases Function as a technical leader and active coder setting and enforcing domain-specific best practices and technology standards Allocate technical resources and personal coding time effectively balancing leadership with hands-on development tasks Collaborate with product managers and other tech leads to ensure applications meet functional requirements and strategic objectives Select and implement resilient technology stacks and architectural patterns personally contributing to the development of a scalable and robust payment platform Lead and partake in system changes ensuring project delivery is efficient and meets quality standards directly involving oneself in coding and problem-solving Actively shapes and drives towards the Bank-Wide engineering strategy and programmes to uplift standards and steer the technological direction towards excellence Collaborate with UX UI designers front-end developers and back-end engineers to deliver cohesive and integrated software solutions Technical Responsibilities Direct and participate in the end-to-end development lifecycle of robust across the full stack from UI components in JavaScript frameworks to backend services in Java ensuring both personal code contributions and high-quality outputs from the team Maintain a dual focus on leadership and hands-on development committing code while steering the chapter s technical direction Enhance the user interface and user experience of web applications while ensuring backend systems are robust scalable and secure Spearhead the professional growth of full stack developers within the squad facilitating upskilling and cross-squad mentorship to bolster technical proficiency Perform code reviews to guarantee quality and promote a culture of technical excellence in Java development Harmonize full stack development methodologies across the squad guiding the integration of innovative practices that align with the bank s engineering strategies Advocate for the adoption of cutting-edge full stack technologies and frameworks driving the evolution of backend practices to meet future challenges Key Responsibilities Strategy Cultivate an engineering culture that values excellence feedback and clean code driving the chapter towards innovative and efficient practices Develop a strategic approach that enhances SDLC process efficiency delivering high-quality and scalable solutions Integrate Thought Leadership to upskill the team in areas like quality assurance enhancing user experience and effective use of automation and APIs Business Experienced practitioner and hands on contribution to the squad delivery for their craft Eg Engineering Responsible for balancing skills and capabilities across teams squads and hives in partnership with the Chief Product Owner Hive Leadership and in alignment with the fixed capacity model Responsible to evolve the craft towards improving automation simplification and innovative use of latest market trends Trusted advisor to the business Work hand in hand with the Business taking product programs from investment decisions into design specification and solution phases all the way to operations on the ground and securing support services from other teams Provide leadership and technical expertise for the subdomain to achieve goals and outcomes Support respective businesses in the commercialisation of capabilities bid teams monitoring of usage improving client experience and collecting defects for future improvements Manage business partner expectations Ensure delivery to business meeting time cost and with high quality Processes Implement and uphold clear job descriptions and performance metrics in line with the group s standards to ensure accountability and excellence Manage the lifecycle of products or services ensuring governance is maintained and aligned with the group s framework Champion the adoption of Change Delivery Standards to refine project management and lifecycle processes Promote a feedback-rich environment utilizing internal and external insights to continuously improve chapter operations People Talent Drive the development of a dynamic engineering culture advocating agile and lean practices for sustained growth and improvement Promote a proactive learning environment and operational excellence within the chapter Instil a business-first mindset across the team aligning engineering practices with strategic business objectives Align team development with the chapter s objectives ensuring a focus on strategic skill advancement and personal growth Attract and retain top engineering talent to build a highly skilled and innovative team advancing the Chapter and Hive goals Risk Management Design and uphold a robust risk management plan with contingencies for succession and role continuity especially in critical positions Encourage proactive risk identification and management establishing a vigilant culture that anticipates and addresses issues swiftly Coordinate risk escalation and participate in resolution processes ensuring timely understanding the root cause Governance Exemplify and promote adherence to the group s values and code of conduct ensuring all activities comply with regulatory and ethical standards Take on accountability for the governance of processes and practices ensuring they meet both internal and external regulatory requirements Represent the chapter in relevant forums advocating for the chapter s needs and ensuring alignment with organisational directives Regulatory Business Conduct Ensure a comprehensive understanding of and adherence to local banking laws anti-money laundering regulations and other compliance mandates Conduct business activities with a commitment to legal and regulatory compliance fostering an environment of trust and respect Other the organisation s strategic aims and adhere to Group and other Relevant policies Skills and Experience Java Spring Proficient in full-stack development using Java and Spring with a focus on crafting high-quality maintainable and scalable software Technical Leadership Demonstrated ability in leading full-stack projects from conception to deployment with an emphasis on modern JavaScript frameworks Database Management Strong knowledge of database management and data integration techniques for developing complex full-stack applications Cloud based Environments Experienced in deploying full-stack applications to cloud environments AWS Azure Google Cloud with a solid grasp of containerization and orchestration tools Qualifications Requirements Skills Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field with a comprehensive background in full-stack development 8 years of experience in software development with at least 5 years focused on Backend based projects involving Java and Spring frameworks Demonstrable experience with RESTful API development including proficiency with OAuth2 JWT and Security aspects Strong understanding of RESTful API development and experience with both SQL like MySQL PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB Strong version control skills using tools like Git with a commitment to maintaining high standards of code quality through reviews and automated tests Exceptional communication and team-building skills with the capacity to mentor developers facilitate technical skill growth and align team efforts with strategic objectives Ability to lead in dynamic iterative development environments Other tools and tool kit options - Proficiency in Java Strong command over Java programming language core Java Concepts such as object-oriented programming OOP data structures and algorithms Expertise with Java Frameworks like Spring Spring Boot Hibernate and Apache Struts Understanding of Web Technologies like HTTP RESTful APIs JSON XML and WebSocket for real-time web applications Experience with both Relational and NoSQL databases and the ability to integrate them effectively within full-stack solutions About Standard
