Overview The Senior Scientific Computing Specialist is responsible for providing advanced computational support to scientific research projects The ideal candidate will have a strong background in high-performance computing HPC within the Amazon Web Services AWS ecosystem and a passion for developing and optimizing cloud-based software solutions that drive cutting-edge research and technological advancements You will work with other engineers managers and delivery leads to design systems determine functional and non-functional needs and implement solutions accordingly You should be ready to work independently as well as in a team We are looking for an individual with passion for HPC and motivation to provide worldclass HPC experience to enable research scientist to use the power of bleeding-edge science to save and improve lives around the world What will you do in this role Design code verify test document amend and refactor moderately complex applications and software configurations for deployment in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams across various regions worldwide Elicit requirements for systems and software life cycle working practices and automation Prepare design options for the working environment of methods procedures techniques tools and people Utilize systems and software life cycle working practices for software infrastructure-as-code components and micro-services Deploy automation to achieve well-engineered and secure outcome Contribute to the development of solution architectures in specific business infrastructure or functional areas Identify and evaluate alternative architectures and the trade-offs in cost performance and scalability With a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience regularly mentor peers provide help aid in defining standards and identify reusable code or application modules Develop and implement high-performance computing support solutions tailored to the needs of various scientific research projects Work closely with engineers solution architects researchers scientists and other stakeholders to understand their computational needs and provide appropriate solutions Maintain comprehensive documentation of computational procedures algorithms software tools as well as Admin and User Guides Analyze and improve the performance and scalability of existing HPC applications on AWS Contribute to the architecture and design of HPC systems and infrastructure on AWS Monitor and troubleshoot HPC system performance on AWS and address any issues that arise Stay updated with the latest advancements in AWS HPC technologies and methodologies Work within a matrix organizational structure reporting to both the functional manager and Hyderabad based Director Participate in P r o d u c t planning execution and delivery ensuring alignment with both functional and P r o d u c t goals What should you have Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field with relevant experience Degree in other fields with relevant and extensive experience is acceptable 7 years of hands-on experience developing solutions in the Scientific Computing and HPC Linux environments with technologies various technologies Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code on AWS Programming and Software Development with writing debugging and optimizing Python Java JSON Terraform Containers etc using the agile methodology Experience with job schedulers viz AWS batch Slurm PBS Pro Gridengine etc Familiarity with Open OnDemand Posit WB Connect AWS HealthOmics Familiarity with modern product development practices - Agile Scrum test driven development UX design thinking Familiarity with DevOps practices Git Docker infrastructure as code observability
