About The Team And What We Will Build Together
The Director, Production Engineering oversees Software Engineers, SDETs/QA, Database Developers, and Production Support Engineers at Kobie. This role is central to ensuring our platforms are resilient, scalable, and continuously improved to meet evolving client and business needs.
As a key contributor to our strategic roadmap and client implementations, you will lead high-performing technical teams while driving operational excellence across engineering and production support disciplines. You will partner across business and technology functions to deliver innovative solutions, ensure reliable system operations, and accelerate the adoption of modern engineering and operational practices. The Director, Production Engineering will serve as both a technical leader and strategic partnerbridging business objectives with engineering execution, while building strong relationships with stakeholders and fostering a culture of accountability, quality, and innovation.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Become an expert in Kobie Marketings application platform
- Lead cross-functional technical operations across software engineering, QA/SDET, database development, and production support, ensuring seamless delivery and operational reliability
- Serve as a strategic bridge between business objectives and operations engaging directly with internal and external stakeholders to align priorities and define deliverable outcomes
- Partner with client services teams to translate customer and business needs into prioritized, actionable backlogs that align with long-term value delivery
- Lead the strategic adoption and integration of AI-driven operational intelligence (AI Ops), transforming our infrastructure and application management through automation, predictive analytics, and proactive incident resolution
- Be comfortable communicating with and representing Kobies brand with Fortune 50, 100, and 500 clients
- Promote a test-first mindset
- Act as a key communication conduit, articulating technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs in business terms to drive shared understanding and alignment across teams
- Mentor and coach team to elevate technical execution, quality, and ownership across the stack
- Foster a culture of operational excellencechampioning innovation, collaboration, maintainability, and accountability at every level
- Be a technically savvy leader who can dive deep into Kobie&aposs platform, influence direction, and drive change to ensure the delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions
What You Need To Be Successful
- 5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including people management, technical strategy development, and cross-functional collaboration in matrixed organizations
- Proven track record of leading high-performing teams, driving accountability and clarity, and aligning execution with strategic priorities
- 12+ years of experience in software development and/or Operations, with hands-on expertise in modern backend and frontend technologies and testing methodologies
- Experience in L1, L2 and L3 support, in addition to having experience in handling shifts to support global clients
- Strong understanding of modern Java architectureincluding event-driven design, Kafka, pub/sub messaging patterns, and scalable microservices
- Experience running production workloads in cloud-based, containerized environments using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform
- Demonstrated the ability to identify opportunities for significant efficiency gains and improved reliability across infrastructure and services. This includes familiarity with AI methodologies for anomaly detection, root cause analysis, capacity planning, and intelligent automation, enabling strategic deployment of cutting-edge AI Ops solutions
- Demonstrated ability to define and evolve CI/CD strategies and infrastructure, enabling automated, secure, and efficient deployments
- Proven experience leading quality engineering efforts, including managing SDET and QA Analyst roles
- Deep understanding of test automation strategy and frameworks, including test coverage analysis, parallel test execution, and integration into CI pipelines
- Exceptional communication and influence skillsable to build trust, challenge the status quo constructively, and inspire teams toward outcomes
- Experience leading the formation of a new Technology Hub, ideally in an international context (e.g., India), including recruitment, culture-building, talent retention, and establishing clear roles and responsibilities
