Field Engineer – Network & Security Key Responsibilities - Install, configure, and troubleshoot network and security devices, including Cisco routers, switches, and PAN firewalls/VPNs. - Support L1/L2 operations, following incident workflows and SLA requirements to ensure highly available environments. - Manage and maintain a wide range of network infrastructure, including structured cabling, VLANs, VPNs, and VoIP. - Utilize network management tools for monitoring, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and capacity planning. - Configure and administer UNIX systems, including DNS, DHCP, Web, FTP, Mail, VPN, and other services. - Develop and maintain project documentation, SOPs, engineering drawings, and other technical records. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate project status, issues, and recommendations to management. - Influence the development and implementation of networking standards to meet business requirements. - Coordinate with OEM vendors, including negotiations and vendor management. - Manage multiple projects concurrently with strong organizational and time management skills. Key Qualifications - Hands-on experience with Cisco routers, switches, PAN firewalls, and VPN devices. - Strong understanding of networking technologies: Ethernet, IPsec, VLANs, TCP/IP, PPP, QoS, ACLs, VPNs, VoIP, and structured cabling. - Familiarity with incident management workflows and SLA-driven operations. - Experience with network management tools and capacity planning. - UNIX system administration experience, including service setup and troubleshooting. - Project management, process improvement, problem-solving, and presentation skills. - Ability to work independently, manage ambiguity, and deliver results with minimal supervision. - Vendor management and negotiation skills. - Excellent English communication and influencing skills. Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field from a recognized university. - CCNA / CCNP certifications preferred. Experience - Minimum 3–5 years of relevant work experience in network operations, field engineering, or IT infrastructure. Sycomp is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
