About The Role Platform Science is looking for a Lead Software Engineer with expertise in PHP (Laravel), Node.js, and cloud-native (AWS/Azure) development to join our dynamic team in Chennai. You will be instrumental in architecting, designing, developing, and deploying robust, scalable, and high-performance software for high-velocity fleet management solutions. This role requires deep technical knowledge, the ability to collaborate effectively, and strong leadership in driving technical excellence. You are a member of an agile development team and participate in the planning and execution of work items. Essential Responsibilities - Architect and implement scalable, secure, and performant solutions using Laravel, Node.js, and modern web technologies. - Design and develop RESTful and GraphQL APIs that power core fleet management features (telematics, asset management, real-time tracking). - Build and optimize data processing pipelines handling high-volume telemetry and event streams from connected vehicles and devices. - Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, RabbitMQ, and AWS SQS, and implement robust authentication using Auth0 and Laravel Passport. - Mentor and coach team members on technical design, coding standards, and professional development while producing clean, maintainable code and conducting thorough code reviews. Experience Required experience - 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 2+ years in senior technical or leadership roles. - Strong expertise in PHP and Laravel framework (including service providers, middleware, Eloquent ORM, and queue workers). - Proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript (or JavaScript) for building scalable backend services (e.g., Express.js). - Expertise in event-driven integration patterns using Kafka, RabbitMQ, and AWS SQS. - Strong database experience with PostgreSQL (including TimescaleDB), MySQL, Redis, and Elasticsearch. - Solid understanding of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes). - Experience with testing frameworks including PHPUnit, Codeception, Jest, and Mocha. - Proven ability to architect and design scalable, distributed, cloud-native systems (AWS/Azure or GCP). Nice to have - Experience with Vue/React, GraphQL, and AWS CDK is a bonus. Other Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. - Strong grasp of software engineering principles, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and system design. - Demonstrated leadership skills in mentoring engineers, driving technical excellence, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - You are dedicated to delivering high quality and performant solutions.
