About the Role

We are hiring a Data Engineering Manager to join our India Operations and play a crucial role in our mission to establish a world-class data engineering team within the Center for Data and Insights (CDI). Reporting directly to the Director of Data Engineering, you will be a key contributor, advancing our data engineering capabilities in the AWS and GCP ecosystems. Your responsibilities include collaborating with the data team and implementing various projects across data architecture, data lake infrastructure, data and ML job orchestration. Your contributions will ensure the consistency and reliability of data and insights, aligning with our objective of enabling well-informed decision-making.

Core Areas of Responsibility

- Serve as the go-to expert for data engineering best practices, architecture, and emerging technologies.
- Provide strategic guidance on data platform modernization, scalability, and governance.
- Stay ahead of industry trends, ensuring the team adopts cutting-edge solutions.
- Lead technical training sessions, upskilling engineers on advanced data engineering concepts.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, encouraging innovation and experimentation.
- Act as a trusted advisor to cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between business and technical goals.
- Represent the data engineering function in executive discussions, advocating for scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering teams to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Define and enforce data governance policies, ensuring compliance and security.
- Design and optimize high-performance data pipelines, ensuring efficiency and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex data challenges, providing expert-level solutions.
- Guide the team in evaluating new tools and technologies, balancing innovation with stability.

About You

- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering and software development, plus 3+ years of management experience.
- Deep understanding of data architecture, pipelines, and governance.
- Strong problem-solving skills for optimizing data systems.
- Knowledge on how to use BI tools like Tableau, Superset, and so on
- Experience in managing large-scale data sets, handling Terabytes of data and billions of records effectively (across structured and unstructured datasets)
- Good understanding of implementing compute and orchestration tools like Databricks, Airflow, and others.
- Good experience leveraging AWS services, including EMR Spark, Redshift, and S3 among others. Nice to have exposure to GCP services like BigQuery, Google Storage, Looker, Google Analytics, and so on
- Nice to have experience in event data collection tools such as Snowplow, Segment, Google Tag Manager, Tealium, or mParticle.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights.
- Willingness to explore emerging technologies.
