Job Description Responsibilities: Database Administration: - Manage and supportProduction, QA, and Development environmentsfor PostgreSQL and Progress 4GL databases. - Monitor and managedatabase backupsand ensure properdata growth management. - RefreshDev, Test, and Preprod environmentsby syncing them with the Live environment. - Tune database performance by analyzing and optimizingquery execution, index usage, and general database configurations. Database Operations: - PerformDatabase Dump and Loadoperations, including experience withProgress database management. - Ensuredata integrity and consistencyacross different environments (Dev, Test, Preprod, and Production). - Troubleshoot database-related issues, especially aroundcode deployments,compilation, and their interaction with the database. - Collaborate closely with theDevelopment Team, providing support for database-related queries, optimizations, and issues. Monitoring & Performance Tuning: - UsePROMONand other tools to regularly performdatabase health checks. - Proactively monitor database performance and make adjustments to ensure optimum functionality. - Experience in tuning performance issues and implementing changes when necessary. - Knowledge ofAppserverandWebspeedto optimize the performance of Progress-based applications. SQL Server Support (Optional but helpful): - ManageSQL Serverinstances usingSQL Server Management Studio(SSMS). - Perform regularbackup and restoreoperations for SQL Server databases. Release & Deployment Support: - Preparerunbooksfor production releases, outlining all steps and procedures for application deployment and database changes. - Assist inRelease Managementby coordinatingdeployment schedulesand ensuring that deployment goes smoothly. - Handledeployment issues, ensuring the release process is seamless across all environments. Key Skills Required: - Experience managing bothPostgreSQLandProgress 4GLdatabases. - Expertise indatabase backups, restores, and data refreshesacross environments. - In-depth experience withdatabase performance tuning(e.g., query optimization, indexing). - Familiarity withProgress 4GL queries,Appserver, andWebspeed. - SQL Servermanagement skills (backup, restore, etc.) are a plus. - Experience withrelease managementand writing/maintainingrunbooks.
